    TRADITIONAL Raleigh-Up

Tonight’s activity was fixing the switch on the horn. I had to take the switch apart and solder the wire back in place. I have never learned to solder. This took me over 2 hours! Just one wire to solder. 70% of the problem is I don’t know what I’m doing. 30% is I can’t see what I’m...

    TRADITIONAL It's SUPER ELLIOT!

Agreed! I have been trying to mimic Dave’s photography methods. We inquired about your method in another thread. I haven’t mastered it yet, but my skills are improving. I can’t quite get the colors to pop. Not to make excuses, but I am also working with a beginner kit lens...

That chain guard is too distracting. Sometimes less is more.

    TRADITIONAL Raleigh-Up

Just rebuilt the peddles. Cleaned them up, new grease and new ball bearings. This was new to me. The cone had two notches that fit into this star washer that prevents the cone from turning when the nut is tightened. Genius design. Not sure why it isn’t used more often? This is the...

    TRADITIONAL Raleigh-Up

Slowly making progress. I have polished and waxed the paint. Looks really nice. I built a new rear wheel with double wall aluminum rims. Plan to build front wheel next. I used 1/4 x 9 caged ball bearings to in the bottom bracket instead of the loose bearings. I still need to find a...

    TRADITIONAL It's SUPER ELLIOT!

I have been searching the web on this topic and I cannot find much. I did read that most 3 speed freewheels use 1/8 chains. So I do not think that is your problem. I am wondering if it is a compatibility issue with the new derailleur? Did you happen to take a video of the issue?

I’m curious enough to help solve the derailleur issue. Unless you have given up. What is the model number of both the original simplex and the replacement suntour? What chain are you using? How many teeth are on the 3 speed freewheel cogs?

FOUND Shimano deer head rear derailleur

I just bought that one. Seller made me a $10 off offer. It looks in decent shape. My guess is it went through an ultrasonic with a detergent that removed the black on the logo. I will paint it back in. Thanks for your help and interest.

FOUND Shimano deer head rear derailleur

Thanks! That seems to be the best option so far. I will keep an eye on eBay for a couple more days and see if anything better pops up. I need something that accepts a 34t cog and has 40link capacity. The deer head is one of the only derailleurs rated with that much capacity. Plus the...

Yes. This is a beast! Looks awesome already. I can’t quite figure out how this is going to work. Looking forward to seeing you put this all together.

UNLIMITED Stacey’s Mom aka the Tall-Goose

I can’t wrap my head around the saddle position changing from choppa to whoppa. Seems like it would be a drastic move slanting forward and backward.

RD-M700 There are a few on eBay, but they are either really beat up or too expensive.
