This is the first build off I'm entering where I don't have a "plan." I don't even know what bike I'm using yet. All I know is that I need a "grocery getter," so I'm building around this big ol' basket. I probably won't make much progress for another couple weeks, though.

Huge basket fan…. My last 2 competition builds here had baskets. Last summer’s build I did the Raleigh, Quechua had the rear baskets, and my winter build (FYA) was full on crazy basket mode with baskets front and rear.

Looking forward to seeing your build!

I got everything disassembled down to the frame and began stripping the spray paint. I knew by using a chemical stripper that it wouldn’t be a precise job unless I wanted it ALL off. In some areas, I got the desired outcome ( removing just the spray paint but not the factory coat ), while other areas everything came off. I’m going to work at it a bit more and see what happens.

I got a bit carried away with the stripper, and now half the frame is down to primer or bare metal. I have to decide whether to strip it all the way down to bare metal and leave it that way or to paint it ( which I don’t want to do ). Another idea is to get creative and paint some of it a couple different colors to make it look like the bike had been painted a few different colors during its existence.

I love the look it has now. I’d give it some 2k clear and roll on

I really like the bare metal look with some clear over. I think this looks good as is. Flat clear always looks better to me.
 
I kind of like the messing around with paint. Heck, you already know how to take it off if you don't like it! 😁

You did a great RaT'ina on that OJ Award winner a few years back. Give it a shot, but tgen fer sure use the Dead Flat Clear for a top finish coat.
