    TRADITIONAL It's SUPER ELLIOT!

Cyclo sold a kit to add a 3 gear cog to your 3 speed Sturmey along with a derailleur for 1/8" chain. This gave you 9 gears, with a couple overlapping. You could also use that kit on a coaster brake hub. The chain was kept short, just long enough to get on top of low gear. Pedal back for the...

    TRADITIONAL Twin Stik Spitfire

Well the fork saga continues.... I received the "24 inch" fork today in the mail. Not for a 24" but for a 26" tire. "Balls..." oh already said that. So I sent the seller a message. I could use the Murray fork, or a 20" tire on the 26" Schwinn fork. Take a chance on another on line purchase....

    TRADITIONAL Twin Stik Spitfire

Well after searching today I finally found the black fork I knew I had. Elated at first, then I realized it's a 20" fork, "balls said the Queen." No big deal since I've been looking for parts the first 3 weeks this month and not finding the needed fork I ordered one off Ebay last week. Didn't...

Decals transfer (frame to be painted)

What decals are you trying to reproduce? The chain guard is flat, take a couple pictures and measure the length and height. Places like Fast Signs can reproduce them. Decals that roll around the seat tube, or other tubes are much harder to reproduce with pictures. Members here like @Chuy may be...

The 3 stand offs mount the original shifter to the top bar. The modified shifter mounts with the flat head screws. I had already calculated out that I needed 3/4" long stand offs, but all I could find on line were these 1" long pieces. So this quick test fit shows I need to cut off 1/4". No...

TWIN STIK SHIFTER MOD You will need this hardware for the mod: 3 flat head 10/32 screws, 3 circuit board standoffs 10/32 and 2 cable stops. Here is how to modify one of the shifters. First drill the mounting plate welded studs to 10/32 clearance hole. Drill #11 (3/16" if you don't have a...

    TRADITIONAL Twin Stik Spitfire

I'm still breathing, not dead yet. Here is the bell crank that was hiding. And I always knew where the wheels and tires were hiding. Just need to relocate the spiders, they have been busy. Here are the perdy blue brakes. May use these or others. I also found these bars, didn't even know...

    Schwinn question

Does someone know what year Schwinn changed the steer tube on their Canti bikes? The early steer tubes were made from thinner tube and required a larger diameter stem. Later steer tubes were thicker steel and the stems were smaller in diameter. I was thinking around 1965, as I am mixing some...

    TRADITIONAL ⚡️⚡️⚡️THUNDERBOLT⚡️⚡️⚡️TIRES SELECTED⚡️⚡️⚡️TANK WORK⚡️⚡️⚡️SKIRTS & CHAIN GUARD

When you ride easy, and brake easy, the shifter cable will work as you know. My info is from Sheldon Brown: Slight extension of the housing is not a problem with brakes. Sometimes the rear brake may drag slightly when the handlebars are turned all the way to one side, but you can't turn the...

    TRADITIONAL ⚡️⚡️⚡️THUNDERBOLT⚡️⚡️⚡️TIRES SELECTED⚡️⚡️⚡️TANK WORK⚡️⚡️⚡️SKIRTS & CHAIN GUARD

If you use the shifter for a brake, swap the core for a brake cable core. The two cables are made different. Brake cables use a spiral wrap cable, very strong, but stretch a little when pulled. The shift cables are straight, light twist core. Not very strong, they don't stretch as the gear...
