My hotrod interpretation of a Penny-Farthing or HiWheel:
The specs:
Forks and 36inch front wheel from a donor UDC unicycle (thanks to Unicycles.co.nz).
16inch rear wheel and Raleigh Chopper tyre (thanks to Andrew at Edgeware Mowers and Chainsaws)
Custom frame in mild steel tube.
Brooks saddle (thanks to Cycle Trading).
Grips turned out of rimu (thanks to Bert).
Gloss black lacquer automotive paint (applied badly by myself).
Most other bits from my parts pile.
Build time: 18 days.
Riding injuries to date: 1 (how's your elbow Matt? )
Would like to say a huge thank you and big hugs to my girl Rei for putting up with my hobby, and cheers to all the Guys and Gals of Ratrodbikes.com for inspiration and encouragement. You're all legends!
