Got it welded onto the fender and a good chunk of the metal work done. It definitely adds to the look I'm going for.

Gawldangit! Just got the taillight I actually want to use and it's sharp looking! And they even sent two of them, when it was listed as a single.
There is a slight issue in that it's even bigger than the seller described. It's 4" long and 2.5" wide, where it was supposed to be 3" long and 2" wide. I guess I'll have to open up the hole in the back of the fender to accommodate it, but this is an acceptable problem to have.
