That may just happen. Gotta do Mother’s Day stuff this weekend so no fab work. Going to build a mini backrest/butt protector for kt as well

Interesting seeing how much longer and lower this bike is then last years C2. Axle to axle is 6’8”

Back into the stand to be torn apart so I can start cleaning up welds. Started looking at ideas for the butt protector.
IMG_5744.jpeg

This is my current favorite.
IMG_5746.jpeg
and back to a bare frame. Going to fix the seat stay wear it needed chain clearance and do a bunch of grinding to clean things up. I hate yellow so it has to get painted 😂

IMG_5766.jpeg
Time to start cleaning up some welds, Sunday hopefully do the last of the fab work and welding
IMG_5773.jpeg
IMG_5775.jpeg

At this point and some clogged up sandpaper I remembered I never cleaned the dirt and grease off these frames
IMG_5774.jpeg

Need to buy a better scrub sponge my 3 year old one is dead
IMG_5771.jpeg
IMG_5772.jpeg
looks like blue, green, tan, red , black and then yellow have graced this old frame with paint at some point in its life.

Looking great

Because I love using other bikes, this Schwinn donated its rear triangle last year.
IMG_5862.jpeg
IMG_5863.jpeg

I thought it would be fun to take the chain pass thru idea and give it a head badge
IMG_5864.jpeg
I’ll get some final weld pictures when I’m out grinding later. Have some wife to do stuff now.
IMG_5865.jpeg
Added a small brace on this side and chopped the top of seat tube off the yellow frame.

IMG_5870.jpeg
IMG_5872.jpeg
Didn’t have much time this evening for the grinder but did get the badge out of the way.
IMG_5871.jpeg
did decide to cut the extra off the yellow frame. Will grind it as smooth as I can. Going to grind and sand. See if I want to be serious enough to use filler

Love the headbadged headtube chain passthru idea.

Got some grinding and wire wheel done today.
IMG_5915.jpeg
IMG_5916.jpeg

Then gave it a nice scrub down with Dawn and water
IMG_5917.jpeg
then for the first time I had to use two hangers to hold a frame up
IMG_5919.jpeg
had some etching primer I couldn’t remember why I owned it. Turned out to be crap from Ollie’s discount bin. It didn’t spray worth a dang.
IMG_5920.jpeg
Used what was left of it and bought some decent primer. Sanding and hopefully a good coat of primer next.

It seems so much bigger now that it is all one color.

Before I went to sleep last night I hit it with a coat of good primer
IMG_5972.jpeg
put on the sun this morning.
IMG_5976.jpeg
That Huffman frame is rough 😂 this will likely end up some form of patina and not shiny. After sanding I had to wire brush a few flaky spots I missed before.
IMG_5980.jpeg
while the wire wheel was out I did some sticker removal
IMG_5981.jpeg

Some sanding, to get the leftover glue off
IMG_5982.jpeg
then some black primer because why not use every shade of primer.
IMG_5977.jpeg
IMG_5978.jpeg
then my current favorite for a butt protector has some issues.
IMG_5979.jpeg

Some chop chop later it fits well. Going to repair the flange around the seat bolt with a washer welded on.
IMG_5983.jpeg
Crap lighting but a fresh coat of red primer before I leave this afternoon.

Got a little bit more done yesterday.
IMG_6012.jpeg
IMG_6015.jpeg

Repaired the end of the rack to use as a backrest
IMG_6017.jpeg
IMG_6018.jpeg

It’s a bit rough!
IMG_6013.jpeg
IMG_6014.jpeg
added this for help with something later! Hopefully the last weld on the frame itself.
IMG_6019.jpeg
tryed out the tan, wasn’t a fan. In my mind it was better 😂
IMG_6020.jpeg
pretty much seem to be at the point of getting out More sandpaper now.
