Just happened to see a bike on a lawn on a side street and ducked around the corner to see what the deal was. Family is having a yard sale, everything must go, moving back to the west coast. These were 5 bucks each.
This looks Columbia-built to me, based on the guard and sprocket. No head badge, though, and searching for Columbia Firebolt XR3 turns up a Biltmore Firebolt XR3, though none of the pics match this bike exactly.
I am assuming this came with a Shimano 3-speed; but since the shifter is gone and one of the brake levers is pretty badly bent, I will probably put it together as a single speed coaster for now.
Huffy-built Sears, this one is worth way more to me in parts. I can use the fenders and pedals for a boys' Sears Spyder frame I have in the bike dungeon. The seat is incredibly cool but unfortunately too far gone and crispy to even sit on; might look good hanging on a wall. If the sissy cleans up, I will use it and the seat post on the Spyder too. Looks like someone put a 24" fork on it and then bent it on some sweet sweet jumps. Also looks like the whole thing was painted with a brush. And what is the deal with those freaky bars?
If nothing else, each one of these has a vintage reflector on it that's worth more than $5...
