Yeah...I saw Jimmy play in Houston on his tour for Strange Pleasure back in 94.

It was a small venue...felt like we were seeing Elvis back in the 50s....the man is totally cool. 8)

oK steve, this probably isn't your style of music, (mine either)
Do me a favor and take the time to watch it. That little asian guy puts steve to shame! and the other guitarist he plays with is almost as good.

let it play out till the 2 battle it out in the final solo and you wont be disapointed. :)

I was expecting him to play slide with that bottle :D

"Puts Stevie to shame"

??
I understand we all have our preference, there is no way they put Stevie to shame.

While I thought the speed with which those two guys played to be quite impressive, their note selection ends up being very repetitive in order to achieve that speed. Having said that, it is very hard to compare these two musical genres.

I personally liked that song by Dragonforce, but I would prefer to listen to the Iron Maiden or Joe Satriani that very clearly seems to have influenced them. And when given the choice between those two and Stevie Ray, I pick Stevie Ray.

Don't get me wrong, i love SRV.
Herman Li plays cheezy 80's #$%& rock, but the guy is unhuman.
He plays crazy time signitures and he plays em at mock speed. the guy doesn't miss a beat, even when the beat is crazy!
I'm not much of a dragonforce fan, but ya gotta give that guy credit.

What he's doing is sick. What other guitar player is capable of 103.5 notes per second and give it melody?

Nice vids!

I was never into SRV, although one of my favorite musicians is Dave Gonzales from The Paladins (San Diego). You can hear a lot of SRV in Dave's guitarplaying. And I just prefer the oldschool three-piece semiacoustic rockabillyvibe of the paladins... Here they are playing a gig in Holland:
