Was on an hour and a half drive home last week and decided to take a back route home to bypass highway traffic and I come across this truck that with any luck will be on a trailer home this week. It's a 1946 Dodge with a flat-head six cylinder and Holmes wrecker crane; I plan on leaving it just as it is but making it a good running truck.

Found the air cleaner wedged between the transmission and the frame it didn't fall out the entire hour drive home.

Yep those are bent engine valves welded onto the crane to hang chains off of.

Cool, I just sold my tow truck and in 6/7yrs time I would like to do something like this but have a hydraulic flat bed on back!! My problem is finding a truck similar in Australia....

Update: The engine has moved, we were able to rotate it about 3 or 4 inches once we get one or two good revolutions on it we'll try to start it. I'll make sure to take a video of the first time it's run in 30 years.

I know a place up here near Shepparton that has lots of old 40's and 50's trucks. None of them running and all have been sitting many years, but if you are serious, pretty sure I can help you out! ;)

Luke.
