  1. Bike from the Dead

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

Thanks! This bike's already fun to race around on with a single speed, so I can only imagine how much more fun it'd be with additional gears! I still remember the first time I saw one of these StingRays when I was a kid. One of my brother's neighborhood friends, Tyler, had one of the regular...

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

Last but not least, here are all 3 semi-complete bikes I got for free at Haysville. The first two are this AMF Western Flyer Sonic Flyer girls' bike and AMF Skyrider men's bike. I got both of them for headset and bottom bracket parts for another AMF bike I'm working on, but both could turn into...

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

Now for all the frames I picked up from Haysville. First is this 20 inch AMF bike I pulled from the free pile, sort of last-minute. I got it for the headset and bottom bracket hardware to use on another bike, but I may either build up this frame or just put it back in the free pile next year...

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

This next one's going to be broken down into 3 posts due to the amount of photos. I went to the Haysville, Kansas Bicycle Swap Meet for the 2nd time earlier this Sunday. While I didn't have the best of luck selling the few items I brought up with me, I did have a good time shopping, swapping...

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

This past weekend produced the biggest haul of the year so far! Last Friday, I attended the Tulsa Swap Meet in Kellyville, Oklahoma. I wasn't expecting to find a whole lot as far as bicycle parts and projects go, at least within my budget, but I wound up bringing home some good stuff for $75...

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

Now for the 2 noteworthy bikes I got out of this 7-bike lot. The first one is this 1968 Schwinn Stingray that someone converted to a BMX bike back in the day. It was a factory green bike originally, but it's since been painted black. It's also clear whoever converted it to a BMX bike definitely...

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

Back in March, I picked up 7 bikes for free off of Facebook Marketplace. Most of them weren't anything exciting, aside from a few parts I could use, but the last 2 bikes were definitely worth taking the whole lot. Here are the first 5 bikes. I don't have much interest in this Mongoose, but it...

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

Admittedly, I didn't have enough time to run by G Oscar's before heading to Central Tech to sign up for my welding class, so by the time I got there, nearly all the bikes and frames were already gone. However, I scored plenty of good tires, tubes and other parts that more than made up for it. I...

Bike from the Dead's Freshly-Exhumed Finds (Everything I've dug up since 6/15/21)

I've been running behind on updating my threads here. Let's fix that! Back in February, on the same day I signed up for my first welding class, I saw an ad on Craigslist for a bunch of free bikes and parts from a former local bike shop I used to visit: G Oscar Bicycles. The shop closed a year...

Anybody sniffing BO 19 in the air?

I've got a few ideas for a few different bikes, but I haven't decided on what to enter yet.

What have you been riding lately?

Never heard of that trick! I'll have to check it out.
  12. Bike from the Dead

What have you been riding lately?

Rode Shoestring around the neighborhood earlier this morning. Decided to have a little fun and clamp an Ace to the front rack for more horsepower.

    ORBO Step-Thru Klunker

Thanks Pondo! I don't know about jumping this bike, but it can handle a lot more than I thought!
  14. Bike from the Dead

What have you been riding lately?

    Thanks! Made it myself!
  15. Bike from the Dead

What have you been riding lately?

Tried using Shoestring as a "shadow gauge" for the partial eclipse today, but that didn't work like i had thought. Rode a couple laps around the cul-de-sac afterwards though.

Unknown Columbia bike and 1968 Schwinn Stingray I.D. and valuation help needed.

Welp, looks like I'll be holding on to old Goldie after all! Took the time to mock up some parts on Goldie while I was looking for stuff to take to Haysville, Kansas, and I got to say, this little bike's winning me over! I had this old banana seat that looked like, for lack of a better term...

Unknown Columbia bike and 1968 Schwinn Stingray I.D. and valuation help needed.

Yeah, I'm not well versed on Stingrays, so I'm surprised to learn that there were 3 versions instead of 2 like I thought. Yeah, it looks like it could've been run over, but I'm not sure. I would imagine that the frame would be damaged too, and not just the wheels.

Unknown Columbia bike and 1968 Schwinn Stingray I.D. and valuation help needed.

Yeah, The Cabe's a great resource for info on bikes with a lot of really cool, really knowledgeable people, but man are there a bunch of gatekeeping snobs on there. I've had folks call me names or straight-up TELL me how to build MY bike over there. Like, why can't people just be allowed to...

Dang, the love for Goldie runs strong here! You typed up a whole story and everything! And it's not like you were picking favorites with the little footnote you gave the Schwinn Stingray! :21: (In all seriousness, I think the Stingray's cool too, it's just not my thing personally.) Funny thing...
