Re: 1935 Colson - A New Plan

The frame is finally all stripped and shiny!

Unless somebody has an idea for a killer paint scheme, I think this one is going to stay au naturel.

Re: 1935 Colson - A New Plan

Hey,
Love the build so far, but I have some advice for you concerning the fitting of this hub. You will need tog et different Nexus No turn washers in order to have the cassette joint pointed parallel with the frame. If you don't the cable will interfere with the chain or worse it will put a lot of pressure on a plastic part that will eventually fail. I think the green left side washer is the one you want. You can buy a whole trim kit for $20 and you get a bag of replacement parts alongs with 3 sets of no turn washers.

A little progress. I got most of the paint off the frame and all the paint off the fork. Test fit the wheels. All the hubs and tires fit the frame just fine.

The nexus 7 amazingly fits fine...

Re: 1935 Colson - update 2-17

Thanks Joe. I've been meaning to order those washers, but I haven't been able to figure out the color I needed yet. It has the black/Gray set on it now. Any clue of a good place to order them from?

I like your Marilyn Monroe red velvet pictures

Re: 1935 Colson - update 2-19

I was wondering how long it would take for somebody to call me on the cheesy pics.

And why the tire setup... Because that is what I have

Re: 1935 Colson - update 2-19

Do you have those "golf bag carrier" handlebars anymore? Those might work upsidedown, or rightsideup? Not sure which way is correct for those things

I just ordered the nexus spare parts kit from Niagara Cycle for $20. It has two sets of nonturn washers, the cassette joint and some other odds and ends.

I do still have a set of those Torrington army issue bars, but they are crazy wide. I have a few other sets I might try on too.

I was hoping I could fnd a newer chain with a half inch pitch that was wide enough for the old skiptooth sprocket. So hopfully I won't have to grind off any teeth

Re: 1935 Colson - update 2-21

i dont think any chain other than inch ptich will work, because the inch long links go over the teeth, and the half inch ones go inbetween them.

drat... It looks like you are correct. Maybe a change in plans then. Maybe back to a regular sprocket or try to rebuild the morrow hub and make it a single speed...
