This one popped up practically in my own backyard today. Spotted it on the CL and managed to be the first to call.

Original owner had carried it around for 61 years and through 2-3 moves. He was getting ready to move back up north and decided it was time to let it go.

He said he only rode it for a couple of years before he started driving so it didn't see huge amounts of use. He took really good care of it.

All of the accessories were put on by the bike shop when purchased in 54.

Looks like it should to clean up really well.

Wow! Are those brakes correct for the age, some reason I just imagine they came out a bit later?

Maybe I am just used to seeing all the old bikes on here with everything stripped off and relying on a coaster! :21:

Luke.

I think that has stainless fenders. Yes? I've only seen a few of those bikes. They must be pretty scarce. You found a nice one. Gary

Any thoughts on tires? Cream tires would match seat well but whitewalls would sure give it more original look.. Very nice bike you got there sir. Really nice chainguard.

I think my choices are somewhat limited if I want to keep the bike as original as possible. The repop Schwinn Typhoon white walls are probably the easiest solution.

The Schwinn Typhoon tires on the bike now have an interesting tread pattern that I've never seen before. Would hate to think what a nice set like the originals would run.

I looked closer today...the tires actually say "Schwinn Monsoon" and not Typhoon.

I never even knew there was such a tire.

Weather is warm .... lets see this all cleaned up! Those tires might be worth taking off to save.

Forever jealous of this find...

So are you cleaning it or no?

I don't think I can bring myself to it. (mark this day in history). :21:

I can't quite explain it, but there's just something cool about leaving it as found. I may eventually put some different tires on it and go through the mechanics, but it just looks cool parked in my garage as is.
