I've never seen a rat trap springer with trusses, it looks good stretched out. That's the way to go! Remember the safety stops won't work when it's stretched out forward, the tire will contact the fork on big bumps. I flipped over the bars one time when I did that with a WF springer.

I think and hope the extra Trusses will help prevent any unplanned stunts. The trusses are rigidity with down force on the rockers. If I can reposition some and attach directly the the axel this will create a safer ride. But I may lose a few points for style. So........... safety vs style

My think tank is over. Time to start getting a few steps complete.
I decided go with set of painted Schwinn S2 wheels, New Departure Skip hubs and US Royal Chain Tires. Next I will be working on my Tractor light

Finished the light this weekend.
Took a Tractor light. Gutted it.
Installed a flashlight with L brackets and hose clamp using Original rubber housing for the wiring. Replaced the lens with a glass bowl. Frosted it and stressed the glass appearance.
Painted the body military tan. I will Explore mounting options later.

Chainguard is ready. Wet sanded all the house paint to a nice even plain. Went by touch on this one. Vintage looking Orange color is what was left once sanding was complete. Taped off the guard in three different steps. Added military green to the groves in the guard. Sanded the green a little to age and stress. Nice enhancement, give the guard a classic look with stripes.

Worked on the fender today. Made a template out of paper.
Started at the two rivets for the fender brace and drilled holes on each side. 20 total including the two for braces. Made a holder for the rivets out of spare wood. Sanded/primed/painted/baked.
Painted military green same color used on stripes for chainguard.
Installed the rivets and clear over.
Looks good. Next up the forks.

Great bike, I love these CWC frames! The Army green stripes compliments the guard very nicely. Not sure I would've thought of that but I like it. The rivits are an interesting touch too.

I have to say though, in my opinion the clear is distracting. That's just me and I know a lot of people do that to rat rods. If there has to be clear, I would opt for a matte or flat clear. But if you are happy, that's what matters! Still cool either way!

All parts will be wet sanded with a finishing sponge before assembly.
This will smooth out and reduce shine.
