A quick Chiggins update...
Double seatpost cut, yet to be welded. Lets the frames stay "unattached" at the top. Different. Also gives me the legroom I like to comfortably ride.

Will you use the space between seat tubes for advertising? :hi:

Stripping paint. It's a bare metal beast and now I'm conflicted about the fender and guards. They look good worn even though I'm NOT a fan of the orange and green and I know it will look good bare. So we'll see, the skirt guards for sure, probably the chain guard and fender struts. I'll leave the fender till last...

Back at it, was out of town for synod assembly... The Elgin fork from the step thru bike fits fine with the addition of a spacer from a Schwinn exerciser bike. I cut it down almost a half inch.

Carl, I think this fork suits best the "double" seat tube.
You are right about the lines but...
It's black and chrome and I'm going all bare metal.
But there's plenty of time to change up again. (that fork is also pieced together from a set of landing gear forks and a repo Monark style springer)

Carl.

So it's still in two pieces but I've done some reimagining. The angle between the two halves will likely change, but I've come up with an unusual way to connect at the top. I'm thinking of using two solid posts and welding them together. I also may have a fun chain guard mod but I need to find an exerciser sprocket.

Ok so then today I mocked this up...
Here's those forks again.

:nerd::43: Wow, I feel like seeing the whole picture for the first time. This look is terrific! Most stretch frames are too long and low for my taste, but this just right. I don't want to become repetitive, but I find all the double tubing very pleasing to the eye, to me the bike looks massive and solid built, while still emiting sense of speed, power and aggression. And that stance...
GuiralCarl, this is like:

The ape handlebars are the cherry on top, I love them here even though I actually dislike ape bars. I would turn the stem in the right direction though, just to see how it'd look.

Well those bars are off for now and we'll see about later. I picked up some Electra wrapped grips from my LBS, put a nice Sugar Skull sticker on for the headbadge and I have to grab a seat from a bike in my other garage. That will complete the colors for El Chiggins after I strip the fender and guards... Wheels next.

Carl.

Its got a splash of color with the grips and seat. I'll try and get a daytime shot tomorrow. Along with the sugar skull head badge...

Really like how the fork and seat tube(s) mimic each other. And that middle photo is very cool!

I still have to do some more paint stripping but at the same time I'm swapping parts around and I believe I've found the right wheelset. (but not in the pic) I also had it out for some of the Great Cycling Challenge I'm involved in.

Worked on the guards some today...
I've had that ladies saddle for a while. I had recovered it in a southwestern pattern. Finally found a bike for it since the Elgin half was a ladies bike.

Carl, there's just something about this bike(s) that just catches my eye. It's that double parallel thing you got going with your seat post(s) and fork(s).

Like the saddle choice too.
