Told ya I wanted to do another bare metal.
Normally, I don't venture past surviving original paint or even visions of doing a ratrod but, my new found love for bare metal has me looking for new canidates.

This is a combination of 2 bikes albeit they are both 50s Murray built bikes. One being a JC Higgins.
Murray frame and rear fender and the rest are from the JCH.
Added the fender light for effect. Not sold on that light though.

I have a 46/47 CWC Roadmaster 3 gill that has perfect sheet metal on it, not a dent to be found and someone stripped to bare metal and repainted it, so no original paint to be found. I have it tucked away for a future bare metal build, and seeing what your doing to your snap tank and this one get's me excited to do it. They look great!

Thanks.
I always liked the few I had seen but, never had the courage to do one.
It was fun to strip a fully pitted frame like the Colson but, to strip a non pitted frame was nerve racking in the beginning. Even though it was a numerous repaint.
When I say strip I mean I took a brass cup brush to the whole bike.
That was fun[emoji15]
Don't forget the linseed oil. It really does improve the look.

Very nice! i need to find a light like this!! is that a bike light or it came of of something else ?
It appears to be a bike light. I bought it last year for a member that wanted a Columbia softball light and it turned out to be not what he was looking for.
It's been over a year (Trexlertown last year) since I opened it up but, as I recall, it looked good.
It's different for sure and no idea what it was used on. It also has a flat bracket that may have been used to mount to the handlebar stem bolt.

My 46/47 CWC was the same way, stripped bare before repainting years ago. But the brown paint wasn't that bad, so it stayed on, but I had the wire brush all set to strip it down. I think it would have looked just as good or better bare metal with the copper accents. I look forward to seeing your CWC sometime in the future.

Here's a picture of it before it was broken down for storage,I mean straight as an arrow, no dents or dings whatsoever. I can"t believe someone stripped all the original paint, I also have the correct sprocket for it, and ball headlight. So it's a perfect candidate for a bare metal build in my opinion, or complete original resto.

Picked up another Colson that is screaming for a bare metal makeover look, from Trexlertown.
38 ladies snaptank. A good gender match to my 39 mens.

Did find some saveable blue factory paint on the fenders but, the frame is severely pitted. There just isn't enough filler primer at the stores to consider a repaint so, bare metal is the solution.

that's great ! now i see exactly how my rust pitted frame would look if i decide to go bare metal:happy:

Getting there but had to be more aggressive with the brush. Went to a steel cup brush to break down the heavy layers of rust. The brass brush was taking too long.
Now back to the brass brush, as it's softer and will do the job of brightening the pitted metal now.

Even though it was my 34TH Anniversary with lovely wife yesterday, she let me play on the his and hers Colsons.
Got to love this girl....the wife I mean....and I do.

And the matching 38 snaptank too.

Here she is. Metal not as bare as I was hoping for. Came out darker than planned but that was before the Linseed Oil application.
Still she looks better than she did when I got it at Trexlertown.
Adding a Winner headlight once it arrives. The rims are bare metal and look brown now with the linseed.
