Normally I don’t remember to photo the bikes I’m building until I’m done. But this particular one I did. I have posted this one on the CABE before, but it’s really more appropriate for this site. So here we go!

I found a really cool badge last year at the Long Beach Motorcycle/bike swap. And decided I needed to build a bike around that badge.

Next up I found a set of temporary cranks in my stash of parts. Didn’t have a set of Schwinn dog legs so I used a set of CWC doglegs until a Schwinn was found.
Also scored a nice set of original prewar drop centers in blue. My plan was to use some cream tires but all I had at the time were the clay colored ones

Time to get a better seat. I had a crusty old Troxel with a crash guard laying around that needed a new seat cover. I had some leather laying around and decided to give it a go and redo it myself. No before pics, but here it is after getting cleaned up and redone. For my first try it came out ok. In the future I will use different foam though, as my “layers” show way more than I thought they would

But I can never leave well enough alone, so I decided it needed some fenders. Rooster tails of water up my back while on some of the rides was getting old.
I had a couple front postwar deep Schwinn front fenders laying around. Both were damaged on the fronts. So why not bob them for that sweet chopper look. Sorry I didn’t think to photo the rear being modified, but I did remember to photo the front one during the process

And that’s how the bike sits today. The only thing left to do is find the correct truss rods for the forks, but they seem to be made of unobtanium right now

You can always make the rods yourself! I have tried that recently, and it ends up to be quite an easy task, once you have sufficient tooling and enough patience! :)
