I am still searching for a cool light set for my build. I am not having much luck locally. I don't like the new stuff for the build and reproduction retro stuff is all the same. I keep running across a particular front and rear light set with a generator on ebay that I kind a like. I haven't ran a light set with the wheel generator for many years and I am not sure of performance and potential drag form the generator.
Any feedback and opinions would be appreciated.

I agree with you on the drag, I have only ran one generator light setup. After discovering the drag and blowing numerous bulbs from coasting down hills I will not run one again!
There are thousands of rechargeable lithium batteries available at a pretty good price should be able to find one to fit your housing. The last led conversion I did I used a hand held spotlight from Peak antifreeze. I will get some pictures of it later today

Perhaps you could gut the head light housing and put an LED and battery inside it.
Agreed. Use your creativity and put LED lights (bike lights or small flashlights) inside old housings or create your own. No worries about old leaky battery systems, tire wall wear (they don't make tires to handle that sidewall wear much anymore) and long life in case the access of your 'new' old ratty light is tough....

As for light housings, look at motorcycle lights, turn signals, and driving lights for cars and cycles.
