Some of you might be following or have at least viewed my build of the 68 Vista Torino 500. Well, while posting the progress, KJV sent me photos of a Vista that he saw at a swap meet in his area. To make a long story short, he went back to the swap meet, bought it and was kind enough to ship it to me. Giant THANKS goes out to you Tom! I love this hobby and the people that you meet because of it! So today I received a bike in a box. Really, the smallest box I've ever had a muscle bike come in! Amazing!

This Torino is also a 68. Being a 300 makes it a non-coaster 3 speed originally. The bike was a coaster as KJV found it. He said the rear wheel was trash and I agreed that it didn't need to be sent. Same with a junk pedal. So the missing parts are the rear fender, Sturmey Archer PowerShift 3 speed stick shifter, a right pedal, front and rear caliper brakes, brake levers, one hand grip, rear S7 3 speed wheel and front S7 wheel. But the parts that I did receive are in nice condition and correct. The paint is in great shape and I think it will really shine. I realize that I now have three bikes in the build off. Im not sure if I'll finish this one, but like I said, this was a moment of opportunity and just wanted to share.

Very cool bike, KJV hooked you up.

I've got a set of chrome steel wheels from a banana seat bike I stripped for parts on my build. What surprised me was they are UKAI RIMS, 5/16 front hub, rear coaster rolls but brake is not working. Chrome is nice, 24 spoke. I really like the high sides on these rims and was going to use them later, but, let me know if those might help you out.

I was gonna lace them to bmx 48 spoke hubs.

Oh Boy! You're starting a collection...
Next thing you know you'll be selling your car to buy an old Vista Cruiser station wagon. :giggle:
Really cool, and if you don't finish there is a muscle bike section over in the "Builds" forum, where you can finish it off.

Carl.

did someone say,
Vista cruiser station wagon ?

I owned a 72 Vista Cruiser identical to the one in this photo.

As you can see though, they have the glass in top of the roof. Very cool. The back doors are longer than the Cutlass wagons too. I think it was a 5 inch difference. Then there was the beautiful faux wood grain sides too!

I had a 67 Buick sport wagon with safari glass... Aluminum blocked 400..
Still a slug dragging all that glass.. but was a looker.

The BB was covered in caked on grease and dirt.

Gave the frame a bath and buffed the paint.

Next is a good coat of wax, but the paint does have a good shine and all the dead spots look good.

Awesome box of coolness to start with.

Today I picked up an nos Sturmey Archer 3 speed shifter. This is the model that would have been on it originally. You can see the 2 marks on the top bar where it used to sit.

The new shifter fits right on those same marks.
