Stripping a 90's Schwinn Frontier 26" mountain bike. Does have a bike shop sticker so not from wally world.
After pulling the fork, I thought I'd drive out the cups for spares as I'm scrapping the frame.

IDK but there is no upper cup and frame is threaded ?

Weird, what is going on? Does the top bearing mount upside down from what I'm used to?
Why is it threaded? How do I remove it?

The top is a race instead of a cup. Kinda common for that era.
Schwinn also used similar headsets to the in the 50’s-70s. I think they’re cool personally

Thanks! Never saw one before. Is it like this?
[IMG] Is the top race threaded into the frame?

Very common on Schwinn Corvettes . But trying to find a set is a lot of fun and expensive .

Exactly like that. No, it’s not threaded, pushed in like normal. Love the ‘splash’ style paint on that! So cool
