I can no longer ride the 20 inch bike I call death trap so Ive been plotting a 26 inch banana seated wheelie bike. Tonight i took a drive and picked up a bf Goodrich badged 56 scwhinn.

It's been repainted and it's missing enough parts I don't mind doing what I want with it. The guy threw in an English built huffy with an internal 3 speed hub i might try to make that work. I can't promise I'll be done in time but I've always wanted to try a build off! The plan is 26x2.125 in the rear and likely a 20 or 24x1.75 up front with some extended forks, a banana seat and whatever bars I can scrounge up. I think I'll actually paint this one!

Ps my autocorrect ruined the thread title

Between work and going out too purchase the wife's new ride I didn't have much time today. Got stuck at the handlebars so it's going too work to be cut apart tomorrow. Did good off with some weird tire size combos

Found the original color, it was under the blue

And my favorite wheel and tire combo from goofing off. 26 rear and 18 front

Alot of photos for a little progress but I enjoy it. May end up with this driveline since the sturmey archer 3 speed on the free huffy is in bad shape.

A little bit of sawzall later and we have the blank canvas for a starting point. Time to dig around the fork pile when I get home.

Busy day but adhering too my 1 hour a day rule I learned from my automotive projects I did some tinkering. The rear wheel I planned too use wont work, it doesn't take a standard 26 inch tire. The good news is the derailleur clears with the sissy bar on. Next step is make the seat post, track down a rear wheel and the order tires, handlebars and a seat since I plan too paint this bike.

Welded a section of modern seatpost too a scwhinn post. So now that's done and I'm basically going to be cleaning and painting stuff until I order parts

Well apparently I pinched my sciatic nerve Sunday so progress has slower way down. Did get the rims cleaned up and greased but today I was feeling decent so I borrowed the kitchen sink again. Crank set is sadly too far gone to bring the shine back. But I cleaned up most of the small stuff. That and finding some original paint and looking at pictures I think it's a jaguar.

The more I look at it the less I want too paint it. It may fail as a muscle bike. It's getting the tire difference, apes and a banana seat but I'm not sure I'll paint it.
No need for paint at all, as long as it hits the 2 out of 3 and is rideable you are all good!
Looking great so far, I hope your back starts improving!

I just figured it should be shiny because muscle bike. I'm going to finish it either way, my wife thinks I should paint one because this makes bike number 4 with mismatched paint and rust! Everything is on the bike except the proper handlebars and a crank set. My process involves building it first, test riding it before tearing it apart for final assembly. I always make sure I enjoy the way a bike rides before I do final cleanup and assembly.

More progress is on hold for a few days.

Loving that banana! Looks like a bigger one and fairly wide too, so probably much more comfortable than they usually are...
Any idea what it was on originally?
It came off a late 70s all pro 20 inch actually. Found in a barn on a property my parents purchased.

That bike is actually the inspiration behind building this one. It's way too short for an adult and prone to flipping over.

Still on couchrest for the most part but a friend dropped off this bike because I'm a parts hoarder. Think the sprockets a bit small for a cruiser or muscle bike. That's it next too the giant aluminum sprocket off my monark.

progress! Or backwards I'm not sure yet. Doctors cleared me for light duty so I had a buddy help tear it back apart so I can start cleaning and painting things I know ill use. Scwhinn headset cup size kind of boned my original headset idea so now ill be cleaning the OG parts. Think I finally have a paint scheme/theme.

Now i wait for the wife to go too work tonight so i can use the sink too scrub the frame.
