I had this girls 24" JC Higgins Flightliner sitting in my backyard rusting away in my boneyard pile of bikes for the last 2 years. I bought it for $5 thinking I would fix her up, but never got around to taking care of her until now. Here are before pics of the Flightliner. Somebody spray bombed blue paint all over her.

Stripped her down, painted her Krylon semi-flat black, and put some better replacement parts (crank & handlebars from a Huffy from Dumpster Diver $15) along with a few store bought sale items like the seat (Target $8 ) and tires (Walmart $12). I would say I have a total cost of $42 on this project.

It's amazing how much better it rides once you clean and regrease the bearings. She's 98% done except for the vinyl skull decals I'm having a friend make for the headbadge and to replace fork darts. The next project will be a 24" boys Wards Hawthorne.

Very cool! You've just inspired me to fix up an old girls bike of mine!!! Thank you.Pics soon!!

Scooter next

I think the boys Wards Hawthorne might have to wait. Two of my girls want me to refurbish a little Scooter for them. I've already got it stripped down, but they requested it "Not be black". I wonder if I could get by with flat red instead. LOL....

If you are sellin the rear rack, LMK thanks

.........and fenders if they are still usable. thank

Rusted Rack

The rear rack was rusted pretty bad. I bead blasted and brushed rust converter onto the heavy spots. I couldn't save the chrome so I ended up spraying everything in primer then semi-flat black. Still trying to decide if I want to add the rack & fenders back or go with the minimal look.

If I do end up letting the rack go I could use the other crank assembly from the other Huffy frame for my Wards Hawthorne project. :wink:e

Well another gentleman bought it. But I have leads on a ladies version of that same beach cruiser. Let me know and I will try and pick that up for ya. Thanks

I think some shorty fenders would look good on it also. That is a very cool frame, great job building it up...Kelly
