Excuse my ignorance. What is the L.B? Great pics.
-When I lived in Tustin, a few decades ago, I would ride my bike down the Santa Ana River channel path to Hunington Beach a few times a week. Good times.

I work nearby
Biked the final version of my klunker Dirty White Boy / White Trasher
over to see if I could get a glimpse
but no luck
You had to own a corvette to get in
A Schwinn corvette would NOT work (I asked)

I sold my 1978 Chevy Corvette a few decades ago, so they would not have let me in the gate either. I'm just another guy in a pickup truck now.

I was in Hmm-163 0n WestPac. MWss-374 during Desert Storm.
-we all hated the USS Tarawa during WestPac. Soon after WestPac, we heard that the Tarawa was moving its homeport from the West coast to the east. Port calls would include all the major ports in Central America, South America and Mexico. Even Rio de Janeiro. Marines were back stabbing each other for a chance to join that float.

What is this talk of Marines on Navy ships! West Pac is far better than east
I did them both, take west anytime.

Love to visit LB or Huntington
I usually bring a bike with me..
There are no flip flops in bicycling

"West Pac is far better than east"
Agreed, but I would have liked to have done a Med Float.
-Unfortunately, most of the floats and cruises go straight to the Middle East, these days. Most of these young guys/gals never have the chance to do the traditional WestPacs and Med Floats.
-WestPacs would not be the same anymore. No more port calls in the PI or Hong Kong. Singapore is fun, but it its far more expensive the PI or Hong Kong.
_Good ole days.

I was lucky enough to do both
Med and westpac...
Pattaya and Phuket...
Great memories

We did the PI 3 times, Sasebo, Honkong, Pattaya Beach and Pusan. A typhoon chased us out of Pusan one day early.
-I think that is one big reason the military is having trouble making recruiting goals now. They all go to the middle east on deployments now instead of WestPacs and Med cruises.
