I acquired this Ross bike and really love it. I want to restore it but would love some more info on it first and maybe the value of it? pics below. I think it’s a super deluxe.
Wow! Thanks so much! Very useful information! I actually got most of the surface rust off put air in the tires and was able to ride it! It’s a bit small for me so I don’t know exactly what to do with it since it doesn’t have much value! Here are some pictures of it now!Late 50's to early 60's is my guess. Made in NY by the Chain bike corp. The bike looks all original and in good condition. There's no scrapes on the handlegrips or pedals so it wasn't abused. Just surface rust to preserve or deal with. Probably original tires and everything. There might be some old batteries in the tank that would have a date code, and need to be thrown out before they corrode the tank. Hopefully there weren't any in there which will make the lights operable. Ross serial numbers begin with an "R" and the next two digits are the last two digits of the year. R63xxxxx would be a 1963 bike. As for value, to make any profit from a restoration would be tough, there's not a market for these vintage women's bikes, although they are better quality than you'll find anywhere new for under two hundred bucks.
