PURE HOTROD! the offy, the glass knob shifter, red steelies & wide whites!! the pinstripping & the pin-up girl! thats one kool kemp Kev!!

A few more small things in "The Detail" work and I'm done..
maybe some more Paint tricks or Graphics... :?:

I ran a bead of Hockey Tape around the Bars for the grips.
I open the Grips and wrapped them around the bar.
then I placed the last bullet in the clip and PUSHED IT IN..
it's good and tight!
I then pushed the 50 Cal bullet into the bars.
It fits very snug so glue is prolly not required.

I found a little "LaPelle" pin with a Canada Flag on in
..and it filled an unwanted screw head very well..

I was able to re-conect my chain links all back up....
and set the Rear Wheel..
( am I the only guy who gets a bit stressed when setting the rear
so that the Coaster/ allignment / chain tension / overall look / all
match up. :?: :?:

never mind I had to do a cold stretch SQUEEZE to get the drop outs
around the proper Washers on the Axle
:x :x .it was TIGHT!

The test ride is soon!
a few more details to come.....

peace
Kev.

Sweet Kev it looks awesome man!! I love all the details so far can't wait to see the finished product. Red oxide has got to be the coolest "primer" color there is too. Very cool!!! I like!! Troy

Kev, Looking good. I think two part epoxies(glues, paste, and putty) are my new new favorite. A poor mans welder.

well folks..
The rain stopped and i took it for a ride this morning out and about!
WOW!
The shifting Index is perfect!

I have a squeek in the front wheel.....
that'll drive me nuts
so I am going to take the front hub apart
and re-pack/change the bearings.
I thought this might happen as the front wheel ,is
the stock wheel from the bike ,
and the only bearings I didn't rebuild!

I think the guy next door thinks I'm nuts

outside at 5:30 in the morning in an Ashworth Golf sweat shirt,
a pair of Volcom Board shorts,
and Brown Chucks with no socks

but hey..I hoped outa bed and looked at the build and said
"I gotta ride this thing NOW!"

so,back to the bench I go to rebuild the front Hub..

peace,
Kev.

kev! i love this bike man! it looks sweet... I need to tear apart my crank on my build off bike, i was racing my friend on it today and i think i blue a bearing, its okay though i need 2 polish the sprocket. Today it was 45 outside i was riding all day WOOT! But yeah nice bike kev.

So...I have been holding off on naming my bike.
But I did want a Licence plate now that I am not
running the Rear 1931 Ford taillight.

I looked everywhere and found no old plates..so I decided
to make one.and on the plate I decided to write
"Pin it"

..Pin up Girl
..Pin Stripes
..Clothespin "N"
..and the most important thing to do in a Traditional
Hot Rod with a 255 Cubic Inch, 24 Stud Flathead with
3 Stromberg 97 Carbs is;
PIN IT!.....

I found a piece of Copper Pipe in the Toilet repair section
of my LHS and some Drain Chain and clips.
0118-1.jpg

I cut the pipe length wise and flattened it out by
POUNDING it with a Rubber Mallet and a regular hammer.
I made sure I was on top of Knarley, chunky parts of my carport
so it would get all scratched and beat up.

0119-1.jpg

I then cut out a rectangle piece and rounded off the corners.
I stuck some letters on the copper plate and pin-striped a line around the plate with peal and stick pin-striping.

0120.jpg

I sprayed it with Red Oxide Primer..and then( while that was wet )
I sprayed it with the Red I finished the wheels and tank in.

0121-2.jpg

I then removed the letters and pin-striping and was left
with the copper showing.
Then I took some 200 grit sand paper and steel whool and
SOFTLY passed it over the surface to nock the
tops off and have the copper show through..giving
the plate the distressed/aged look.

0123.jpg

then I drilled 2 little holes..cut my drain chain to length
and hung er up!

Badda bing...Badda boom,

Kev.
