Trying to downsize but this Elgin long tank bike is crossing my path. I’m thinking it is a 1940 model. Any thoughts on this bike? [IMG]

Missing rack, chain guard, wrong bars and saddle...but long tank. Another repaint, never seem to find the OG finishes. Does include a couple of fender sets.

Well I took the the bait and picked it up. A friend hauled it back from Oklahoma. It’s a repaint but everything seems straight and solid, came with two sets of peaked fenders.
Now the part search begins, rear rack, chainguard, correct type bars and saddle.
I have pedals, a few saddle and tire options in my stash.

Grease usually hides some good chrome. Now the question is, do I jump into BO#13?

Did some adjustments to seat, added some pedals, checked things over and went for a spin. Front bearings need adjustment or replacements. Crank rubs on weird kickstand. Seat and layback post don’t work with my old body.
I pumped up tires on Saturday, still holding air today. I don’t find any hint of original paint unless this was some custom color. The finish doesn’t look like anything out of a rattle can.
Not sure what I want to do with it, I was drawn to 2 or 3 things, Elgin, long tank and its age. It’s around 5 years older than me.
I don’t really want another deadline to meet so not sure it will make it to the #13 BO thread.
