Absolutely, you are totally correct... Currently I only have a multispeed 26 inch wheel/hub so to keep it clean i'm trying to think of a catch system that will run off of the hub and pull the cable brake to the multispeed hub. I like the idea of multi speeds for up and down hills around here, I don't want to get off my bike for any reason especially to push it up a hill. Also thinking of placing both brake and gear changer on a suicide shifter to keep it clean and cool.

More Stray Shat for the Cat...
After pillaging some parts from a thrown out stroller I spent a few hours work'n up my shifter. I had to ditch the suicide shifter idea after dream'n up what I think is a cleaner solution and it plays off my favorite nuance of the cantilever frame, the double bars.
Bent the shaft to play off the curves of the down tube.

I spent a few more hours coming up with the mechanics today, still need to fit, finish and polish but worked like a charm on the test run.

I got though the Yellow, Orange, Blue and most of the Pink but I'm throwing in the towel on items 51-87... Paint will have to wait for Stray Cat/Shat.
I wrapped up foot brake, shifter redo, bobbed fender, tail light, wheels & tires.
