So, my neighbor is about to retire and he wants a custom cruiser.
I sold him my old Firestone, and now it's my job to get it how he wants it.
And I hope to have it finished by July 29.

Doesn't look like it needs much.. lots of good bones right there..

I agree, but I like faded paint and rust. My neighbor, not so much.

It'll be painted, have minimal chrome, and a couple odd pieces I had laying around.
I'm not sure about the color he chose, but I'll do what I can.

I'll get it torn down and start stripping what paint is left on Monday.

Three Cheers!

To quote our funny fruend from down under, @Glen ...
"Is that the start, or the finished photo?"

I had a great time restoring my buddy's '68 Schwinn Stingray last Fall for MBBO #5. I guess it depends a bit on what the budget allows. In my case he just told me, "Make it as close to what it was when I got it in 1968".

That makes all the difference when you spend $75 on the rear slick tire. We were all in for $300 on the parts and paint on that resto. He was pleased, and I let him pay me what it was worth to him on the labor end.

I will say, it was more stressful building intentionally for another person. But, the reward in seeing that smile on his face; priceless.

Cool to see another Firestone Super Cruiser in BO.
Get to building that bad boy up! Awesome starting point for sure!

It's not a Western Flyer trike but I guess I'll allow it.
I have a nifty idea for that frame if I can scrounge up the parts I want easily.

Not to worry, you'll be seeing a build thread when I start it.

It's apart and getting what's left of the paint removed, nothing picture worthy. But I've got some cool stuff coming for it.

Hmmmm, 'dull faded paint'....I like the sound of that....

I'm having trouble finding the paint I think he wants locally.
But then yesterday he points out an old faded hard hat, and I realized I was confused on what he wanted.

I was thinking he wanted something like what TRM did in the last M.B.B.O, but now I think he wants a sun faded orange...
I'll figure it out and do some testing before I paint the frame.

Anyone know what kind of rivets I need to attach the head badge to the frame?

I saw some on eBay, but don't know if they are a specific size or if any head badge rivets will work.
