You do the 'worn' look well. Doesn't necessarily need rust-ina.

But, there's always the Rustoleum Textured paint, you could do a light 'top down' spray and then light sand to blend in with your colors.

Really like the color selection!

I’m calling this build The Sky Lark after my old muscle car.
I had a 1970 Buick Sky Lark as a kid in high school. It had a big block 350 Rocket motor . What a fun car maybe a little to much fun for a kid with a lead foot . I wrapped it around a tree one night & killed it . Almost killed my self also but out of the smoke and twisted metal I walked away .
Now the Skylark will live on also !!!!

I’ve had some old SkyLark badges for awhile . So of course I had to use them . Stay tuned I will be posting pictures laters today of what I’m cooken up ......

I had a 76’ Skylark, it wasn’t as good looking as the 70’, but still fun, so I know what you mean.

Here is a sample of my ratification process. Not perfect but I’m happy with it so far . It could use some rust though.

Frog tape to mask works well .

Sweet grunge work on that guard!!!

Got the Lark back together. Paint is basically done . ... hooked up the nexus 3 speed . I would still like to put a stick shift on it . Now its just time to detail it up a bit . I don’t want to push this one over the top . Just keep it Rat and simple. Although it wasn’t a very simple build ... this one has got me sweated up and wore out .

Perfect rat man! What doesn't show are the cool frame mods that you did so well. Years from now people will be trying to figure out what model this was.

Sweet rat G! That last pic might be the bomb for your final / voting pic! RaT oN~!

So much to like about this bike!
Love the finished paint scheme especially the fenders and the little spears (for lack of a better term) on the drop outs. This list goes on and on!

Congrats on a great job!

Thanks R-Man that means a lot coming from one of the best in Rat Rod business & a fabrication master !!!!

I like the second picture best. The 3/4 front view shows almost everything you've done and has that "ready to roll" pose. Sweet bike brother, getting one of my votes.

Carl.

@G-Matt , I KNEW there was something missing! G, this Skylark logo really 'tops it off' in my mind....one of the coolest ideas yet in attributing our bike builds to favorite autos from back in the day !

Dude! It will look so good up against your rat-ina paint!

Got the skylark detailed up a bit .
I sprayed some satin clear on the pan seat . I’m waiting on a decal for it to come in the mail hope it makes on time . Also got the skylark badges mounted with some 3m tape . I bought a fender ornament from Zephyr Deco a while back. It fits the Elgin fender great & has the bird beak look this skylark needed. All I’m missing is a stick shifter on the nexus 3 speed . I had a Murray head badge so might as well use it . I like the wings so it’s a perfect fit and it’s just another part to confuse the average biker .

Looks great!
I'd like to offer one suggestion if I might. With the very cool hinged rear fender, I feel like it needs a couple of rusty thumb screws on the bottom fender brace to make it complete. Maybe even connected to a chain so that when your out on the highway at night fixing a flat you don't loose the screws.;)
