There always is a bit of controversy at the voting booth . Either people think we don't get enough votes or to many votes . Or I didn't know we could vote more then one time . I've been guilty my self . I delive to narrow it to 1 vote would be almost impossible ! 3 votes more traditional but still very tough for me . Remember this isn't a race with who has the fastest car. This is about some supper talented builder & artist. Top 10 would make more sense & most should be abel to narrow it down to 10 . My self I picked 12 . I figured i would go with the calendar method . I know the top 12 bikes are not atomically in the calendar. That's Steves RRB personal pick . But I figured hey who would I like to see . No friends no mr.popular no I think he's a nice guy . Just 12 bikes you would love to look at for a whole month....

Sorry Carl, if you read it again, tbere is nothing about casting all your votes in only one visit. And , to be fair, the 'rules' post comes AFTER the list of all the builds in the actual poll. If it was so clear, why are there so many (veterans and first timers) that weren't clear on the process.

I picked 12 bikes. Each of them had the 'IT' factor for me. Some were because of the awesome fabrication. Some were just the sublime style of the finished bike. Some were shiny and beautiful, some were ratty and rusty. Any of the 12 I'd love to have in my garage, or swing a leg over and go for a cruise. And that's why I voted for them.

For me the build off is about fun, being creative, and some friendly competition to make us all push our own personal boundaries and take our build to that next level, which we might normally not do on a normal build. Getting too stressed about the voting process is kind of missing the point.

Excuse me but... it what vote, anywhere ever, do you get to vote in multiple visits or times? Do people really need to be told to not do something that isn't done anywhere, ever? It clearly tells you that you have seven days to vote and you can vote for as many as you want. I suppose it could've said the polls will be open for 7 days, but then I'm sure someone would have wondered if they could vote at night... My guess is many just assumed they knew what they were doing and didn't even read the post... and the tapatalk guys... hey I use it sometimes too, but I understand it's limitations, and don't expect it to preform like a browser.

:forum: Still thinning out the herd of my 10 finalists before voting. I learned my lesson from my 1st "buildoff" (WBO14/15) so will wait and think carefully about it first. Casting as many votes as you like spreads the love around, and more clearly shows the diversity of voters opinions, which may seem strange to many.
In terms of the "builders choice vote" idea, go back and look at the finished bike thread pics and see how many "likes" these initial photos received. Those with a lot seem to more accurately reflect the builders' 1st impression of your bike. I did this in the WBO when I was a bit surprised by the voting, and I found that it was different than the final vote results. Two motor-bikes sent me packing to 5th or 6th place, but I then found redemption when I made the November, 2016 calendar with the same bike.

Was there a sale on moon-discs I don't know about?Or have you all stolen garbage can lids from your streets.

Well what a great suave of bikes.Brilliant all of them, hats off to all that finished.
Normally I always vote for 3 to keep it traditional but this year I doubled down, just to hard to choose.
Seems like everyone has votes so that means you have all came out winners. Ride those prizes to H*ll n back...

I really like the unlimited vote deal it spreads the voting in an interesting way. I like it better than three but then again I'm a masochist and would love to see it go to one just to watch people go back and forth on voting for a week. I miss this site just been crazy with life but hopefully that will be changing soon

Ok, silly, embarrassing, yet honest question...How do I vote using tapatalk?
UH oh.....seven days to vote, and I thought that meant you could come back and vote within that seven day period, never thinking you had to cast all of your votes one shot..(what a dough-head....or maybe I'm not) ..some of this voting stuff is not very clear when one is a first time voter. :13:

...I want to add more votes...now It seems that I can't..
any workaround?

F
No, and it wasn't very clear. I sent a message to Rat Rod specifically asking him to state that, and to put all the voting rules up front, that was yesterday morning before it even got posted. Also the bit about multiple votes (new rule for this build off). I got no response whatsoever. Kind of urinates me off...

Rules have been clarified now people, I forgot to tell Steve that people get confused with the multiple voting set up, so please accept my apologies.
I seem to remember now that we had a similar misunderstanding the first time we did it on the MBBO.

First post now reads as this:

Thanks to everyone that participated in this years build off!

You've got 7 days to cast your votes, and you can choose as many or as few bikes as you want to, but ALL your voting must be done in one sitting, once you hit the 'vote' button you are done, you can't come back later to cast more votes.

You must be a registered forum member to vote, and voting does not work through TapaTalk.

Good luck to everyone!

I made a survey monkey that lets you rank the builds 1-54. I can post the link if we are interested in a "builder-only" ranking.
Please send the link to the "unfinished builders" as well. I think the deserve to vote in a "builders only ranking" as much as the finishers! Most of them put much effort in their builds and couldn't finish due to unexpected circumstances, but they are still builders of the BO11!

I think that was kind of the idea, all builders can vote; but only on the finished bikes.

Welcome back.
I'm sad you didn't get to finish your build, I think a lot of us were looking forward to it.
And no, I don't think anyone stole garbage lids. But one suave builder did buy some paella pan lids.

I picked the bikes I would pay 300 bucks or more for. That was most of them. But my own bike didn't make the cut. Maybe next time.

Yeah Jim. I'm also feeling low I was not part of the great build off. I did not even have time to check in to check the builds. Only now have I slowed down, but on Friday it's grape picking time(early this year due to no rain). And then we press for wine.
I have been riding more than building as I work for Yummy Pedals tours. Hence I purchased a great downhill bike.
But always winter and next year, for the same idea except go back to the original form I was wanting to go with.
I think I have my mojo back.

Obviously you can't point this out too much, so I'm gonna quote it.

By me, the voting system is really fair and I think the only drawback is lot of people (including me) who were reading the rules missing the fact that you can vote only once. But, when you think of it, it's fair, because otherwise lot of people would be changing their votes in accordance to some other factors. :)

That's my 2 cents on the story....can somebody now cast a vote for my bike that I missed to do myself? :D

Yes I agree it should be stated clearly that you only get one chance to go to the voting booth . Because it dose say it will be open for a week , this can cause some confusion. Last year was my first time voting . I was a bit confusing my self thinking this meant I could come back and vote . I wasn't aware once you voted you could see the poles & that your one chance to vote . That was a bit confusing there for I only cast one vote last year ... That was a disappointment...

If you see a new "temporary member' named
CastingTheRestOfMyVotes....its just me, OK?.:cool2:

can somebody now cast a vote for my bike that I missed to do myself? . Ha. I like that Kowalski....while y'all are at it..punch in one for the Long Tale too, I hear that's a great bike..

But seriously folks, Isn't it great that suggestions come up and are being heard, and Luke made that great clarification above ^...so that by next big B.O., everyone will be 'one' with the rules... so helpful
thanks , good clarification Luke
thanks again to Steve A...none of us would have a place like this without his vision, considering all of the other things he's involved in...there's a dude with some energy..whew !!
hey, without this...we'd have to hit the streets and back allies to get illicit pics and articles about rats, modding, bikeporn
