Re: Kokomo, In USAdude, That Volkswagen story is awesome! You probably could have made it nice with all the money you made from it
Re: Kokomo, In USA
It was way too rusted to save (speed limit signs for floorboards) I just bought it to drive cause it was cheap and A LOT better on gas than the suburban I had been driving. And after totaling the bug 7 times it was too far gone. Wasn't bad till the 7th time killed it just had some bumps here and there. I ended up buying a remote starter for it for the winter so I could warm it up without freezing to death. Well I forgot the car was in gear and the parking brake wasn't set, kinda high idle for the winter, I hit the button and watched as the car went out in front of the plow truck going 60MPH down 213 in windfall. Bye bye bug....... I was able to save the motor and trans-axle for a dune buggy but the rest was smashed beyond recognition. It doesn't matter what I paid for it, it matters what it's WORTH. I never buy anything I will regret KEEPING.
Re: Kokomo, In USAOh man, at least it went out with a little history and left you with a good story to tell.
Re: Kokomo, In USA
Yeah, I still miss it though. I'd rather he taken out the mailbox.....again.....lol It doesn't matter what I paid for it, it matters what it's WORTH. I never buy anything I will regret KEEPING.
Re: Kokomo, In USAThey FINALLY finished the bike trail in Kokomo's Foster Park! As soon as I can figure out how to work the video on my camera and get it posted to Youtube I'll show you guys! Already took the Hercules Board-tracker down it at full speed. Nothing like taking corners on an old English bike with an original English Leather saddle on top of fresh pavement.

Re: Kokomo, In USAyou got that right. The old english bikes are really fun to ride fast!
Re: Kokomo, In USAYes they are, I have the original front fork but it's bent, other than that here is my Hercules Rat-Tracker.

Re: Kokomo, In USAThat's a pretty cool transformation. I'll bet that fork helps out in the comfort department.
I just noticed my bike has the exact same chain wheel as yours.
Re: Kokomo, In USA
Not as much as you'd think, it still rides high and tight. I been thinking of swapping it out as soon as I can find a triple tree or old school springer. It doesn't matter what I paid for it, it matters what it's WORTH. I never buy anything I will regret KEEPING.
Re: Kokomo, In USAGo with the springer! I've been dying to put a springer on my bike for a while, both for looks and comfort. I have no real experience in springers other than looking at pictures though.
Re: Kokomo, In USAI want to make something like this: A dual spring old-school looking fork. This one's for a Harley but I like the style

Re: Kokomo, In USAnow that would rock and roll!
Re: Kokomo, In USAYeah I found one similar to it that isn't astronomically high priced. Pretty reasonable $89.99

Re: Kokomo, In USAThat's pretty sweet, priced not too bad either. Just make sure it will fit your head tube somehow.
Re: Kokomo, In USAYeah I know, I'll probably call and see if they make it in my size it not there's always the option of borrowing a welder and get other head-tube.
