Making Longer Bars

Postby Uncle Stretch on Fri Aug 10, 2012 2:14 pm

Its not my idea , and I'm not sure who came up with it ,but it works. If you have that set of handlebars
that are perfect , but could be just a few inches longer. Take a 2'' piece of solid 3/4'' rod. Shove half of it into your bars.
Cut off 4'' of an old set of junk bars and slide them on the solid stock. Leave a slight gap. Weld all around
and then grind down the weld. Slide your 4 1/2'' long grips over the added part and it will cover your weld.
Now you have your favorite bars that are 4'' longer than they were.
Ok if I hang that one over there, and slide this one over here
maybe one more will fit right here!

Or add a foot to each side and wrap it with bar tape.
It's easier to shine like chrome when you're surrounded by rust
