Re: Sidewalk Super Villain SUPERNAUT 5/30 back to KISS

Postby bighit on Sun May 30, 2010 8:04 pm

thanks thats the desired effect.

I am violating my KISS rule with the seat. I got a great image in my head, but... i decided to modify the pre-made one for the look i want. fabricating one would be taking the long way around. i want that big plush bench seat look that the stock banana has anyway so why am i creating work. i can get the pre-made one to work and work on the scratch one on the side.

not a fan of summer build offs. and dont forget sunday night sexy over at underground velo.

so much for keeping it simple. i have a vision of what i want it to look like and the stock seat aint cutting it. so since i have some time to kill i might as well get to some fabricating.
Image

tomorrow i will get the front curve dialed in.
Image

then i have to shorten it up. then dress up the edges. polish it up so it matches the chrome. then it gets some leather on top.

is any feeling it yet or getting the vision?

I'm totally feeling it. Any way to put speed lines on/in the sides to echo the chainguard? I realize not everybody has access to a bead roller, but it'd be sweet.

the leather for the seat is going to dip down, maybe? i also thought of, louvers, black like the tank with the bike name in the middle. there is lots of room and plenty of time.

thanks. the goal is to replicate this seat from Voodoo Larry's Psychosis.

i think this hits the diesel punk theme on the head, lots of big metal.
i just got to get the edging right. making that curve is going to be tough. i got to find the right metal and use the right rivets.

it's the shape i had envisioned it, but i dont like it. so it's done alright.
Image

i am bailing out. it's back to KISS. i need to carefully and creatively edit it down to simple elegant lines.

i might still work with it a little more, but i think the writing is on the wall.

Re: Sidewalk Super Villain SUPERNAUT 6/10 seats done!

Postby cman on Thu Jun 10, 2010 11:02 am

As much as the raw metal would looks good, I think some Padded vinyl on top and extending part way down the sides would be better-Comfortable and still retaining the look.

i have another banana seat on the way. here is a pic of how it looks with one on it.
Image

i did plan on putting on some padding and trim on the sides. then since it's aluminum polishing the center until it shines like the chrome . i will still work on it since i have time.

I don't know, I think I like the homemade seat a little better.
The more I see of slammed seats the more my knees hurt.
