Hotrodjen has the disc for some pre drilling lettering. I have to know what her plan for the #6 will look like so I can out line it with the lights. So the best way was to give her the disc and let her sketch it out then send it back so I can drill it and mount the lights. Then she can lay down the lettering and all I have to do is bolt it up.

Re: Build off #6 Trophy 6/26 finally an update!

Postby bighit on Mon Jul 25, 2011 6:17 pm

alright i got the template back from Jen. She laid out how she is going to letter the disc. now with this i can drill all the holes and send the disc back for the official art work.
Image

after she put the final art on i will glue the lights on from under the disc. there will be a little button just under the 6 that will have like 8 different light settings.

Re: Build off #6 Trophy Bonus

Postby kingfish254 on Tue Jul 26, 2011 7:10 am

I have a bonus trophy as well.

I finished up the Rat Rod Bikes Build Off Commemorative Six Pack Sampler a couple of days ago.
There is a beer for each past winner and for now Beer #6 is a Beer Run Longtail Longshot Lager  .
I plan on sending the past and new winner copies of their winning brews as bonus trophies.

This was a fun prop to make. Cheers!

Are those LEDs from one of those plastic light up swords you can buy at concerts, fairs, and festivals? I've got 2 of them torn apart, great source for lights.

I will have to add that to my list of things to keep an eye out for at yard sales.

These are more easily aquired after fairs, festivals, and concerts in the trash can. They are swords to kids sword fight with them, a couple good wacks and the plastic breaks or the LED contacts hit together and short out. No more lights... into the garbage.

That is exactly what it is. a couple of wacks and it folded right in half at the base. The light still work great. All I have to do I drill holes and glue them in from the bottom. The lights will light up Jen's work, it should look great.

here are some side plates i made.
Image

they are basic steel and i have used them before. if you leave them outside they rust nicely. i figure jen can put down some flames coming off the #6 and stripe the bare frame.

Re: Build off #6 Trophy 7/27 Number plates

I am prepping what I can so as soon as i get a shop helper they can drill the holes. Once they are drilled I can check that they mount up good and ship the disc and side skirts out to Jen.

Re: Build off #6 Trophy 8/1 didn't give up yet

Postby bighit on Mon Aug 01, 2011 7:18 pm

Dont give up on me yet. Broken elbow, broken hand dosent matter it's going to get done.
i plotted out where i wanted the holes to go using Jens template. then i taped it to the disc and used a center punch to make my starting points for drilling.

then i needed to make room for the electronics so i got rid of one side of spokes and half of the hub.

this one just aint going to spin.

Here is a mock up of what it will look like.

and from the rear.
