Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Light and Bracket

Postby kingfish254 on Thu Jul 07, 2011 6:01 pm

A little dremel work to a beer can, a Harbor Freight flashlight and an old bike light lense and reflector and I have my temporary beer can light. I plan on using the Billy Beer can for the final light. The rear hole is smaller so that the battery cap actually secures the light to the can. I crimped the ends of the copper pipe and riveted the beer can on.

Thanks, it was amazing how simple it was. The obvious thing would have been to lay the can sideways, but I really wanted it to be sitting up like a regular beer. Plus the flashlight was perfect. I had picked up a lot of old bike lights and parts last month from ebay and the old reflector and lens worked great.

I wish that the old beer cans would get here before the weekend, but it looks like they won't arrive until Monday.

Well the bottle tank I can (and probably will) put a cap on. If I try to drink from the headlight can, I will really get LIT!

Savannah is actaully pretty cool. You can walk around with "GO CUPS" from bars.

Thanks, it is going to be a fun weekend. The old beer can colllection was just delivered so I have plenty of material to work with.

Plus, one of my flips just sold. I just sold a GT mountain bike for $175 that I paid $40 for. This bike was spotless when I bought it and ALL I did was put air in the tires and post photos on craigslist. Some of this money will pay for my BEER RUN bike build. The rest will be drank wisely as part of my Re-Cycle Bikes for Beer program. Cheers!

Re: BEER RUN - Headbadge and seattube badge

Postby kingfish254 on Sat Jul 09, 2011 1:41 pm

Started cutting on the ebay beer can collection today. Made a headbadge out of Miss Olde Frothingslosh.

And a seat tube badge from the Tenents Lager

I also tested out securing the bottle tank

I mocked up some beer can fenders, but I think it is toooo much. I like the fenderless look on this bike.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Tailights

Postby kingfish254 on Sat Jul 09, 2011 1:44 pm

Started mocking up some tailights out of two ABC red and green beer cans. I like the metalic paint on these.

Took a dollar store push light, a split bike reflector and a dremel and here is the end result.

Re: BEER RUN - Beer Can Chainguard and Chainring

Postby kingfish254 on Sat Jul 09, 2011 8:46 pm

Played around more with some of the beer cans.

Wrapped the chainguard in beer can metal.
Image

Also, Here is something I am thinking about with the original Schwinn chainring. I would probably paint is a color that provided more contrast to the beer cans.
Image

I am not sure about either of these ideas yet. I don't want the build to look too cartoony, and I have a feeling the chainguard may be a bit much.

Opinions?????????

Unlike beer pong, there is no such thing as too much in this game! Gopher it.

Nah, not too much, looks like a beer can/bottle theme bike, seems acceptable. I think cartoony would be doing it up with candy wrappers. haha
