Postby 1speedJam1982 on Tue Aug 07, 2012 8:59 am

I have what I was told and Believe is an AMF frame Im building up, but I dont kow what year it is, I was hoping for some help. I found a S# I believe on the rear drop out ... It Was "M1808 3" I dont understand the space between the 8 and 3... evry other amf s# was a letter then 6 #'s where mine has 5 with a space. does this mean anything?

yeah I read that in another thread that rms37 replied to and he was saying that was the first year of the actual cantilever frame by amf but the serial number isn't like any others Ive seen on here Starting with an "M" and a space between the last two numbers which I suppose could of been a faulty stamp at production. hmmmmm.. thanks for the reply though.. I also added a chain gaurd that is obiously not original to this bike :P   I love my rat

Yeah that's the year that Schwinn's patent on the cantilever frame expired so everyone started making them.

I love the lines on those frames!
