we will see. i still have ideas for it.

i ran into problems that would have cost money, but this is the bike i am going to ride so i need to do it first.

the tire had clearance at the seat stays so all i had to do was open up the chain stays. first to go was the kickstand then a cut across the bridge.

after that i tried to spread it and i got nowhere so i had to cut the seat stay bridge.

I'd just remove the rear bridges completely.
Unless you need them for fender mounts.

I wanted to keep the braces intact so I could weld it back up. I figure a plug right in the middle.

So first problem make the 110mm spaced rear 135mm.

These stays didn't go easy. Remember the goal was to leave them intact and get just enough room for the 26x3.7 tire. I had to spread them to over 150mm and let them sit to cold set them. I even put the bottom bracket in to reduce any deforming of the BB shell. I figure put it in now just incase I bend it and can't get it in.

after spreading the rear of the stay to 150mm it finally opened up from 110 to 135mm. them stays are tough so tough that i am not sure i need the braces.

Even with them being very rigid, imagine the forces of riding this bike and leaning into a turn. Without the additional bracing they would have a tendency to sway, steel is forgiving, but it could cause rubbing.

i dont like the idea of no bridges so i am going to weld in a plate on the bottom and use it as a kickstand mount also. and i will have something on the top as well for a fender.

here is how the seat stays shaped up. they didnt need coaxing, but after spending years on these tires off road i have learned that this is too close.

***NOTE the 26x3.7 Black Floyd tire has the same diameter as a 29 er tire so this frame can take one as well. The value of this frame just went up for sure.

The old bait and switch I see .... Did the same to a steel huffy frame sticking a nexus 4 in it, tried to do the "plug" thing but ending up welding flat stock to it instead.

I didn't plan it this way, but i fell into a fork from my past and it just looks so good on this bike. I have a surly moonlander fork that fits a 26x4.5 tire on a 100mm rim, but thats for winter.

Cool 8). I was initially looking for a set of Black Floyds for my build, but they were gonna cost me over $300 for the pair in Australia  . Thought about it for a while, then decided against it.
