General Ray Lee

Postby Smoopy's on Tue May 18, 2010 7:20 am

hello all, well, I decided to include my current build in build-off since to be honest; it's all I'm working on for myself right now.
The premise for building this bike is clear..I want a bike to mimic the General Lee from "the Dukes of Hazzard". I've seen this attempted many times before and to be honest, they just seem to be lacking the key elements that made that ole' Charger shine and the elements that made you tune in every week to watch. I''m going to incorporate those elements into my build and hope it turns out like I planned..stay tuned

I started with a basic 1979 Sting-Ray frame(as I do a lot for my Theme Bike builds) stripped & primed and ready for the Hugger Orange paint
Image

Got is set in Hugger Orange with a couple coats of clear(sorry I did not get any pics before I assembled the frame)
Image

Had this Crankset lying around, thought it would fit the part
Image

A little trim black on the headbadge
Image

the frame is starting to look about right

OK, here's what I need the wide set bars for. I plan to mount this Cobra CB between the handlebars. It seems the Telephone was the second form of communication in Hazzard Co... :D I plan on gutting it out and cutting it down to about half the size so it won't be as bulky as it is now

Here's the plan:

I'm likin' this, used to love that show. Empty CB would also made a good lite panel/battery holder.

Looking good so far and I think you'll manage to get to your objective easily. Any plans on jumping it?

it certainly would be; but I would have to carry some sort of power supply and I really have no place to put it. I think it will look pretty cool once it all comes together and who knows..it might be jumping off a cliff or over a hay bale pretty soon...
