Looks like a early 1970's Raleigh sports, the type of brake leaves that bike has where only put on the raleighs for a few years in the early 70's after those the quality started dropping. most my 70's Raleighs have those because I think they are interesting.

Compair that Raleigh to my old black one, both sports and not much changed over the years back then, these where great daily use worker bikes.

I bought that bike at a local junk auction, It was a 1973,I don't think it was ever ridden. Had all kinds of original paperwork in the bag along with tools. 1 paper was for the brake levers, they were an upgrade that the owner had put on when new. I rode it for a few miles then put it on ebay after I swapped out a well used seat and got over $480. for it. Still have the original seat, looks like it was just made.

Yeah the Sports is offten a highly desiered model and bring in good money. the Superbe is the Deluxe version, that reminds me of mine when I got it, it had packing paper and stuff stuck to it in a few places and some tools. some people seem to buy them and never use lol

Thats a nice Hercules. I should find a shifter like that for my old raleigh. I think the one on mines a replacement, it says Wicocycle and has a white cable. if anyone has one of them shifters let me know.

We were a Raleigh dealer back in the late 1960's and early 70's. Was good friends with their S.E. Sales Manager Richard Nosti. Sold a ton of Choppers and Tourist and Records. I had a Professional MkIV that I rode some. Sold it and still wish I had it back!

I don't think I've seen this many non-green original paint Raleighs in my entire quickly approaching geezerdom life. :?
it's all about the bikes, man. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=50053
I was going to update my sig line, but I'm not seein' anything worth plagiarizing right now.

The only commonly green Raleighs are The Superbe and raliegh twenty, it's more rare for any other model to be green I find the 70's sports I noticed there where alot of brown ones, i've had alot that color

I've had a bunch of Raleighs. I love them. At the moment, I'm down to 4 and a Nottingham Phillips. Here they are plus some of the highlights from my flipping days.
This is the all time favorite, it's a 70 Super Course with parts from a dozen other bikes. I'll probably keep it forever. I keep taking it apart and putting it back together in different ways and it's great no matter how you set it up.

This is a 73 Competition that I bought from the original owner just before the last blizzard. I might get to ride it in a couple of months.

Oops, gotta run, I'll post more when I get back.
