Re: How many vehicles have you owned?

My tally stands at having owned 34 automobiles so far during my lifetime. I am also at a halfway point whereas I still own 17 of those vehicles and have sold on the other 17. My favorite is my third purchase followed by my first two, and all three of those are not going anywhere literally and figuratively...

Awesome! Don't even get me started on mopeds. I've owned more than I care to count. My favorite was this 1979 Indian I had a few summers back. Only had 600 original miles on it!

GSX Sorry It was a clone too. Started out as a GS 400 and I added some paint, few badges, and a mild cam. Ah back when gas was cheap.....

This thread looks like a lot of fun. I'll have to think back and make sure I didn't miss any.

1) 76 Dodge Aspen wagon. With a slant 6 and a 4-spd stick... the car I took my driver's test in.
2) 73 VW Beetle. $300 when I was 15, the car I drove illegally and blew up 3 engines in till it totally rusted away.
3) 62 Plymouth Belvedere 4dr. Fury's little brother. Weird and cool with a pushbutton auto.
4) 75 Volvo 164E. Wife's first car. Copper color.
5) 83 Chevy Citation. 2.5, 4spd, base model 2dr notchback. Hands down worst dang car I've ever had.
6) 73 Volvo 164. Too rusted to register.
7) 69 VW Beetle. Parts car with great engine.
8) 66 Beetle. Super long term project, technically my brothers. Rescued from junkyard and just sold, still a project.
9) 82 Subaru 1800GL-10 2-dr hardtop sedan. Great car but rust took its toll.
10) 74 VW Beetle. Gold "Sun Bug". Replaced the 73. Rusty eventually but my daily car for 5 years.
11) 86 Mazda 626 2-dr sedan, Silver, 5spd, totaled by drunk in front of my house while I slept.
12) 71 VW Notchback. Green. Sunroof, 1600, 4spd, terrible rust. Kept 15 yrs and sold as project.
13) 70 VW Bus. White. My baby. Saved from junkyard, restored, wonderful passenger/ bike hauler van. Still have it. 15K miles since 1999.
14) 86 Volvo 240 sedan. Silver. 4spd + OD. Great running, rusty car. Forget who I sold it to.
15) 87 Volvo 240 sedan. Silver. Auto. Not great running but I fixed it. Sold to tenant who moved away.
16) 88 Volvo 740GLE sedan. Dk blue. Wifes car for many years. Sold and bought it back twice. Finally engine blew up recently.
17) 89 Volvo 240 sedan. Blue. Ended up being a parts car, salvage title problems.
18) 87 Volvo 240 sedan. Blue. 5-speed. Wonderful fun great running rusty car. Sold for $400.
19) 91 Volvo 240 sedan. Grey. Auto. Traded for part payment on VW Bus singlecab pickup.
20) 70 VW Bus pickup. White. Rusty rusty rusty. Traded for payment on bodywork on other Bus.
21) 88 Volvo 240 sedan. Grey. 5-speed. Sold to downstairs neighbor. She still drives it. Strong runner.
22) 88 Volvo 240 wagon. Silver. Auto. Rusty but great around town car. Sold it, still see it around town.
23) 90 Volvo 740 wagon. Green. 5-speed. Awesome car with 320K miles. Drove it 100k and sold to neighbor. Still has it.
24) 90 Volvo 240 sedan. Maroon. Sold to a friend who broke it and gave it to someone who cut the roof off. Really.
25) 70 VW Bus. Beige. Parts car. Cut it up. Parts of it are welded to my other one.
26) 82 Volvo 240 Turbo wagon. Blue. 4-spd. Texas car. No rust! Wife drove it for a bit until I got:
27) 90 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon. Car I sold at dealership. Traded in 8 years later. Wife drives it now. 306K miles.
28) 92 Volvo 240 sedan. Green. 5-speed. Saved from abusive owners. Modified. I drive it every day. 240K miles.
29) 84 Volvo 242 sedan. Maroon. Auto. Was a cool project that needed engine. Sold to friend, kept the cool wheels.
29) 89 Volvo 240GL sedan. Green. Auto. Turbo conversion built by my friends' shop. Sleeper. 275K. Sweet car.
30) 88 Volvo 240 wagon. Grey. Auto. Given to us in payment for work done. Sold for $800 after fixing drivers seat.
31) 94 Volvo 940 wagon. Grey. Auto. Bought from mechanic friend. Sold to good friend, didn't make a cent, still see it every day.
32) 90 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon. Green. Auto. 295K. Drove it home with no brakes. Fun. Parted it out.

I technically didn't own but ended up with these other cars in my driveway. The 2 Volvos are still here getting parted out, but leaving very soon.
33) 88 Pontiac Grand Am. Engine threw a rod the day it was supposed to drive to Florida. Scrapped.
34) 93 Volvo 940T wagon. Blue. Brother in laws. Hit in side. Engine has been transplanted into #27 now.
35) 94 Volvo 940 wagon. White. Brother in laws. Replaced #34. Ran out of oil. Just about to go to the junkyard.

I think that's it. Somewhere there is a 1980 Honda CX 500 motorcycle that I own, but it's been away for so long now that I don't really own it anymore.

In my honest opinion any time you buy a car new or through a buy here cry here place you get a bad deal. Most of my cars that I got used run better and I didn't have to pay out the nose for them. Also there is something about driving a cheap $300 car, you don't have to worry about scratching it when loading your bike, you don't have to worry about people stealing it...somedays you pray they would, if it dies on the road you leave it there, and if you crash it just have a good insurance policy and get something better.

My VW beetle was totaled 7 times and paid for 3 of my other vehicles. First time was the day I got it, called in and put full coverage on it just in case since I was driving it home from Ohio with a buddy following me. I get a block from home and a guy runs a stop sign and barely taps the passenger door knocking a piece of trim off. Body shop quoted an outrageous price because of some rust and insurance totaled it and sent me a check for $1200! $75 went to the tow yard to get the car back and I never did fix it.
It doesn't matter what I paid for it, it matters what it's WORTH. I never buy anything I will regret KEEPING.

Only one, a Mitsubishi, it was very reliable :P did over 200k miles. And a 2 stroke bike, which required cylinder rebuilds every few thousand miles :P
