My First Fixie Build

Postby Skipton on Mon Mar 26, 2012 8:57 pm

So the story is My wife and I have rented the same apartment for over ten years!
we have the perfect apartment in a great neighborhood, with great neighbors,
And a great landlord, even lets me use the basement for my shop!

A few weeks ago the landlord stopped by with a fixie someone left in a empty apt. months ago.
It was a some what crude conversion of a 1980's lugged road bike.
My job was just to put some brakes on it.... I decided to spiffy it up a bit

I seem to have lost the before pics somewhere in the computer

The pics I can find so far
sanded down the brown house paint ..and laid down some primer

I have been wanting to do this color combo for awhile.
Valspar Satin Wine Red and I think its called Sungold Yellow

Then I did spray the whole frame with a few coats of gloss clear

Assembly starts tomorrow!

Thanks for looking :D

Thanks!

The bars are girl JC Higgins with 4 or 5 inches cut off.

Just like my son Garret's but with the "grip" cut off

I work with a bunch of Fixie guys and gals, And have taken their Fixies for quick rides.

This morning I took this one on a longer shakedown run. The thing about a fixie, is it just keeps asking to go faster.

Like my "FAST" is sitting on my shoulder taunting me with " Is that the fastest you can pedal?"

Going to have to build one for myself

Some before and after pics.

Got to make the seat color matching
