Schwinn fastback sissy bar

Postby custombikebuilder on Sat Apr 21, 2012 4:05 pm

I bought a Schwinn fastback today, and I was wondering if the sissy bar is supposed to be the fatter one, or the sting ray specific skinnier one.
I don't need one I just don't know where else to post this.

looked in the book i have, it shows a skinny one, but the bike is original, im not gonna start swapping parts, the front tire is an allstate slick, didn't know they made tires into the 60's, i thought they only made tires for the tanker bikes.

Sweet find, the sissy bar on your bike isnt correct all stingrays used the same skinnier sissy bars with the clamps to attach it to the frame. the drop center wheels are s5's later they switched to s6's in late 60's which are the same size just not drop centers there correct to your bike tho

hope this helps

Thank you, I think ill change the sissy bar, but this one has the patina, if I restore the bike I will change them, all of the ones I have are really nice chrome and wouldn't blend in on this bike at all. Are the drop center rims more rare?
