Disk brake set ups

Postby dragnusa on Fri Apr 27, 2012 11:40 am

Ok as seen in my fresh finds post yesterday I got a front disk brake rim yesterday ( wish I had found the rest of the brake setup) and dont have any major plans for it yet but the more I looked at it the more Im thinking of using it on a build. Would like to see some pics of other set ups of non disk brake bikes set up with front disk brakes

Funny you should ask...I just went through this a couple weeks back.I picked a disc brake MTB wheel for 10 bucks and a disc and caliper for another 10.I asked a couple LBS how to do this and they werent into doing anything that didnt just bolt on.so I figured it out myself..The way I do it is mount the wheel with the disc in place.put the caliper where everything lines up and where your gonna want to mount it,then squeeze it tight with a rubber band on the hand lever or at the caliper. Then just make a template to mount the caliper, transfer it to metal and weld it to the forks and thats it.The rubber band on the brake lever works great for adjusting the caliper at finally assembly, just loosen the mounting bolts squeeze the the brakes and tighten everything down..This was my first try at it and it works great!I hope this helps! 8) ImageImageImageImageImage

Cool link. There was a guy here that worked at a CNC shop that maybe can do these.
