Talk about all things Rat Rod Bikes.
I've had several, almost all of my bikes have been under $100. So my top 10 list:
1. 1980's Redline RL-20 Pro-styler Paid $20
2. Spaceliner frame, fork, crank Paid $30
3. Fuji gran tourer Paid $5
4. '58 Schwinn American and '54 Wasp Paid $8 for both.
5. 1961 and '62 girl's JC Higgins Flightliners Paid $10 for both
6. Tandem trike paid $100 for yellow tandem, traded for light blue tandem and tandem trike then sold the light blue one for $100 to break even so got the trike for FREE!
7. Hawthorne twin top tube Paid $5
8. '66 Schwinn Heavy duty Got on a trade but $5 invested.
9. square tube trike Free
10. The one I find next
And my best Non-bike score
1994 Yamaha Razz Paid $50
It doesn't matter what I paid for it, it matters what it's WORTH. I never buy anything I will regret KEEPING.
huffy slingshot .. got it for 30 bucks.. was needing a new chaing and tires.. but complete... sold it ..
wish I would have kept that one..
I love the smell of fresh barn finds in the morning
All my purchases have been less than $100 . These two I bought as a "bundle" for $45.The Dyno Glide Deluxe is one of my favorite bikes.
The Western Flyer ten-speed was $10. I have ridden it a lot.
The Huffy Good Vibrations was $4. It is red , not orange as it appears in the picture.
The Autobike is one of a matching pair, mens and ladies, I paid $40 for.
The Schwinn Le Tour came from the scrapyard for $9 and change , I believe.
Stuff I still have.
$85 for this Spaceliner Klunker but after I took it apart it does't seem like it is anymore since the person that did it as much as how good the person was the parts he put on it did not hold up to his hard riding.
$40 for this 1959 Ladies Murray built Mercury bicycle.
Free 65 & 68 Schwinn Stingray that need fixing up, I have been trying to sell the 65 that doesn't have too much on it to get parts I need.
Free Twenty Folder I am selling to get parts I need.
under a hundred bucks always makes me feel warm n fuzzy! lol
Found the GT Dyno rotting on the side of the house and took it home for 20$ and made it fun to ride with some left over cruiser parts, the mountain bike is a 2011 mongoose 29er disc, rode that home for 75$!
Score on both i say!
ugh hold on let me remember how to post pics....
Got this 64 sears for free cleaned it up replaced a couple cables and tires,
and traded for this Schwinn tandem plus got paid twenty dollars also
Paid $50 for this one 79 spitfire 5 speed drum brake, it needed a seat ,cables, tires, sold on the bay
A couple more free ones I sold, Mongoose & Panasonic
65 Schwinn Deluxe,,, free except I had to split what I sold it for
But I think this one is the best deal , I traded a 16" bmx bike I threw together straight across for this, all I did was add bar tape and tires
