Thanks Jerry.
Laidback good luck on your bucket list. nothing like a wooden roller coaster ride.
MplsCoaster yes I thought about you while we were that close. Thought about riding in Minnesota but opted for Iowa instead which would put us a little closer to home. We stopped over in Minneapolis for a night years ago on our way to ride the Gandy Dancer trail.

Okay... last stop Iowa and the High Trestle Trail. What a great trail and bridge! First night there we rode the 3 miles out to the bridge to see it lit up. The next morning we went back to the trail head and rode the entire trail out and back for a total of 53 miles. on the way back we stopped at a neat bar right on the trail the Flat Tire Lounge for a few beverages.

I should have a video of the bridge at night soon.

Ha! I didn't even think of that. During high water? While some scaffolding was in place? Repelling?

Here's the bridge at night http://youtu.be/yKZAe714TQY
This one kinda long. Try and suffer through it http://youtu.be/5Ia9hYK9wCM

the bridge is nice. they're working on converting an old railroad bridge to a walk/bikeway here, to cross the river bettwenn in. and ky., but i think it's still a year or so from being finished.

edit: i guess the railroad bride conversion is a popular thing. i was looking for a link to add and saw nearly the exact same thing is being done further up (down?) the river bettween ky. and ohio.

It's done a lot on rail-to-trail conversions. Some pretty amazing old wood trestle brides and others as well. That looks like a really nice one where you're at.

Here's a couple we've been on in Idaho part of a rails-to-trails.

Here's one we rode in Chattanooga Tennessee that's not part of a rail-to-trail

Great video of the high tressel bridge!
Kinda reminded me of a fun house ride (optical illusion) only on a bike, way off the ground  :D
You've got a great visual library of the rails-to-trails revolution, thanks goodness for Just-In-Time Engineering

Thanks and that's the same thing I was thinking. "Whacky Shack" is what I told the wife. That was our local fun house ride.

If anyone is interested in finding rails-to-trails and other paths like these you can see what we've ridden by state here.

About 6 months ago a casino opened up near us. Not really our thing but today we finally decided to go check it out.

Wheat harvest and the grain trucks stirring up quite a bit of dust.

No bike parking at casino.

Free hotdogs today. I should have ate more to offset our gambling loses and beverage costs.
