Thanks for the compliments.

I don't know what I'm going to do with the chute yet; I might even use an old kid's lunchbox. Hard to tell. Thanks for the offers of help on that JoKoR and schertztx. I'm just not to the point of knowing what I am doing yet with it.

Perhaps I'll jump in that wayback machine with the boy Sherman and see what they did long ago.

Hmmm, catchy slogan. I ride this to work sometimes:

Image

It's kind of a throw together, parts from everywhere bike. People at work think it's a piece of crap--well, it kinda is actually, but that ain't the point. They wonder why I don't just ride my "good" bike all the time. What can you do, some people just ain't got no rat in them.

Yep, they see a piece of crap. I see a rat...rod.

OK, trash talk is over, I'm officially a fan, WHY did I pick this year to build a 20" bike? Ugh. Maybe it's frame switch time.

Okay, maybe I'll try one of these I just bought Saturday:

Image

Oh wait! You meant you. Well, then forget it. I'll keep what I have!

I'll save one of these for next year. I already have a plan...no parts, but a plan. I'm calling it "The Rocket." I have a head badge.*

ImageImage

I need a three speed drum brake hub and a front drum hub and a tank and a cool chainguard and some red and black paint and...oh, some money to get all that stuff...better wait till next year I guess.

So what does all this have to do with my present build off bike. Well, nothing. This is kind of like a bunny save without the bunny.

*I had the head tube badge made months ago. I have been waiting to find the right bike to put it on. I think I found it.

I love that headbadge. I can easily see building an entire bike around that one little item.

Did Terry do the rocket badge? It is awesome, I wish I could figure out his process...

If you mean Terry of Jones and Son, yes, he made it.

He came up with the two-level bit himself. I was expecting only the flat badge. Pretty nifty though, I'd say.

There is a thread in the How To section somewhere that describes the process.

He made some "normal" badges also. Now I just have to build some bikes around them.

Image

I asked for a Flash Gordon type rocket shooting away from earth with Germany showing (because of the German language used on the badge) and stars in the background. I also specified a height and width and gave him the lettering I wanted. He designed it from that information. I like it.

He made this badge for me also from a design I came up with for another bike I did:

My daughter called her bike "One Sweet Ride" so that is what I went with.

Char, you know it's kind of funny that a big part of both of our bikes is paint, but yours is to make a bike look old and mine is too make a bike look new!

Thanks, Ape Stranger, I appreciate it. I hope you get your wheel situation solved soon. Your Worksman frame is cool.

But back to the subject since I have seem to have gone off course:

Image

Okay, that is the subject. But I got nothin' new.

I got to get ta building...
