I picked this Baron 2 up last night for a goodly price. After an unsuccessful year of building bikes that don't sell, because they are not as awesome as the other things people could use the money for, this will be the last one of the year unless HBO starts paying me a staff rate. Then I will be building a matching hot rod and ChrisCraft mahogany boat.

I will likely strip it and powder coat it a different hue of red, add 24x3" white tires, Firebikes, forks, Schwinn OCC bars, Ziegler-Lam aluminum retrogear cranks, aluminum pedals, sealed bearings all around, a headlight, tail light, half-link chain, Felt New Belgium fenders, and lose that zebra skin lined basket forever. Then again. Maybe I will take it apart leave in a closet for a while and get back to it in a year or so. I have been meaning to turn one of these into a road bike with lots of carbon fiber for giggles.

Like the way it looks as it stands except maybe the basket. But anything that is red is good in my eyes. Every car that I have owned has been some shade of red. Bikes on the other hand have been blue, red, green, chrome, etc.

Nice find !! yeah bike mods dont make money usually in my experiance, your better off try to sell it as is for a better price ... i lost money on every single bike i worked to much on

It shall be red and really nice to ride. I already have the parts with the exception of a rear 5 speed or 8 speed hub.

I have made money on some but I don't get parts wholesale. If I could I would gladly lower the price. I could sell my builds for $1000 and couldn't keep up with demand but if I go over $1100 the buyers are hard to find.

Gig, seeing most of the Felt bikes that you have done......I will be patiently waiting to see what happens when you do get your hands on a Wingbar frame. Good luck on your search!!

If you want to make money off of bikes....sell vintage BMX and road bikes.

Everything else is a tough sell these days.
I have actually done this when those vintage 80s BMX bikes were new(ish.). I flipped a Robinson Cruiser earlier this year and my phone was ringing off the hook with calls and I was not low-balling it by any stretch of the imagination. You are right.

I want it polished to perfection and then either gold anodized or gold plated. It would also be a stunner in copper with a clear powder coat over it.

If I could fit an 8 speed hub with belt drive I would do that. I would wrap the outside of the belt in leather to make it look old school. Dual drum brake hub, balloon tires, some Caramba Double Barrel cranks, and some other goodies. I have everything else but the hubs and frame waiting.

If you have any Felt questions I am happy to try to handle them.
Oh trust me gig I wouldn't ask anyone else!!! I'm actually gonna be listing some prewars I no longer want after I move states so I can get my hands on a felt, might even commission your services. I have your blue boardtrack felt saved in my dream bike folder on my iPad
