I know this is super old but how did the build go? I am doing the same build with the 26" rims. 3x. I ordered the spokes the other day. Hope they're right.

Well, I can answer one of my own questions.
It takes a 27mm crown race. Which is contrary to a description I found somewhere in the neitherweb. Dang. Hope the HS I bought for this build has a 27mm crown race that will fit the bearings and cups.
Can someone please post pictures of the 1" fork where the brace goes onto the steer tube? I can't picture how that works. Is it held between the two nuts? Is there a pince bolt.
Also can someone confirm the ID of the steer tube, is it 22.2 or 21.15mm?
And, is the crown race 26.4 or 27mm...
Is there a dedicated Jamis Boss thread? I got mine and it is cool. Seller said it was an '83 but it has different graphics than others I see claiming '83. It also has a fork that is not stamped Akisu.
This thread has arguably the best Boss build ever, it might be a good genesis for a "show me...
Here's my bomber. It is a Columbia RX5 frame. The 125th anniversary Five Star Superb repop they sold in 1986. The rest is a mix of 70's and 80's bmx and road parts with a few neo-retro parts thrown in. Rides great in the neighborhood. It will be mostly a poser pavement queen but I had to pay...
I'll check out that thread, I haven't seen it. Sounds inspiring.
Your J Boss should be a great addition.
I'd heard of Boss Bicycles and had a Laguna back BITD but I have also seen listings that included Jamis Boss and Laguna in the title. Must have been an eBay thing to catch more searches...
So so, so friken awesome. That looks great and I bet it will be loads of fun. I'm looking forward to some ride reports.
Mine got hung up somewhere between TN and NM, so no Boss arrived today. Your build make me even more jazzed to get at it.
I just remembered I had a Boss question:
What is...
Copy and paste from OP.
I though it might be cool to use the smaller frame in a coaster brake klunker style build. The slightly longer 26" fork would slack out the head angle a bit. It might make a great rider.
And they usually sell for low dollar.

So sweet! I have a '83 Boss on its way that is going to be BMX'ed a bit but this build is over the top. Good show, can't wait to see it. I'd be interested in a set of those decals too if your buddy does another run.
