They are over a pound lighter than the stock ones. Congrats on the 3 speed...that will be on my agenda for next year. Take a look at old road bikes with internal 3 speed hubs, you may be able to salvage something off one for your cable.

The orange bike is a TommiSea brand fatbike. Definitely not a Mongoose Beast.

Thank you for the compliments. I'm having a blast with this on the trails, on the street, and in the garage. 32/18 gearing is what I have and it works great for trails, but you spin out pretty quick on pavement. May put a set of my Crank Bros. Candy or Mallet C clipless pedals on to smooth out...

This was before I painted it and found better bolts.

Here it is. made with hand tools and a piece of scrap steel from work. Hub is from a Schwinn Spoiler (it's actually a little wider...need to spread the rear open to fit) and the brake is an Avid BB7. I'm using speed dial 7 levers too.

Disc hub and a Moonlander fork is thr route I'm taking as soon as I can save a few bucks.

I'll be adding disc brakes to mine and some new handlebars....maybe a seat. Trying to keep it under $600 total including the bike.

Just a stocker for now, but I have a Schwinn Spoiler disc hub for the back and will be changing forks to add disc brakes to the front in the future. I just don't care for coaster brakes in trails and snow.

Will a freewheel disc hub from a schwinn spoiler work on these? I just got my red Beast and I believe I have a Spoiler hub packed away in the garage.

I had one and it is a really good quality bicycle. I gave it to my Dad because it was so comfortable to ride.....he traded me for one of his electric stingrays that I quickly tore apart and put the electrics on a stingray XL chopper.
