Took the tip out. Corrosion is gone, but now it’s raw.
It’ll be covered by the clamp, but corrosion could be a factor in the near future.
(Purple clamp is a stand in while I clean up the original. It’s getting de-corrosioned [is that a word?] and polished)
So I have this metal cast paint that may be a close match.
So…

Not bad. Once it’s cured in a few days I’ll blend it in with some 600 grit, then I’ll polish and wax the frame. The frame has other bare metal scratches. But if I try to touch them up, it may look worse than if I just leave them alone. What do you think?

@The Renaissance Man this is why I have a hard time with original paint. It doesn’t have a lot, but it does have some 53 year old battle scars. These would probably look worse if I try to dab that metal cast on it.

It's a choice. Either embrace the battle scars (i.e. resist trying to hide them) or go all in like your usual restorations!
