I recently picked up this interesting frame. Sorry for the poor pictures. It was reported to be a 1920-30's Mead Ranger-but certainly isn't. Check out the chain tensioners on the rear dropouts. The serial number is on the seat stay as opposed to being entered with dies on the bottom of the bottom bracket. Slight damage to the top frame bar and a small cut on the rear frame bind the bottom bracket It's still a neat frame, powder coated. The bottom bracket is 2 3/4" wide and has a 1.5" (approx.) diameter, so the traditional conversion sets won't fit, no threads on the inside. Are there any 3 piece units that would fit it? Other wise it would require a bottom bracket transplant, which I've done successfully before. What would you do? What could I do?

Are you sure it’s 1.75”? A mid size bb is 41.2 mm or 1.625

Can you get a caliper measurement of the ID

I have a frame that uses an odd size BB. The shops had the crankset but they were all old stock. I'll measure it and see the exact diameter.

With those dropouts I'd offer that it might be an Iver Johnson. I found the 1941 Iver Johnson
Super MoBike fits the description pictured above. Note dropouts, seat clamp bolt location,
bottom bar positioning, and curve of the frame and the straight bar. Match?

In my case it's a little bit of knowledge, a little bit of OCD and the winter blahs. Shake in a dash
of luck... Wah lah! Originally I thought it might have been a Gormley & Jeffery, but too early on
those TOC frames. I like the Heineken green on that one. Nice.
